Summary The Role Responsible for all field and office activities within the Fertilizer department, including finances, purchases, and overall management. Reports to the Director of Ag Services for the Farm. Job Description Key Accountabilities * Management of Employees: Supervises employees; assigns job duties and hours (as needed daily or weekly); manages the hiring of new employees; determines employee wages; oversees training of new employees; directs cross training of employees; continually evaluates employee work and workload; and employee performance; conducts year-end employee evaluations; resolves any employee problems; and continues to build a good crew that will work together as a team. * Employee Safety : Stresses compliance with all safety policies, practices and procedures. * Pesticides : Responsible for pricing and ordering of pesticides (recommendations made by Agronomy Department); responsible for all pesticide applications and tracking all applications; and has final approval of all application records. * Fertilizer : Responsible for pricing and ordering of fertilizers (recommendations made by Agronomy Department); responsible for all fertilizer applications and tracking of all applications; and has final approval of all application records. * Product Inventory Control : Assigns and trains inventory control personnel; performs monthly physical inventory check; and continually evaluates procedures. * Repair and Maintenance Control : Determines pricing and ordering of all equipment and/or parts; continually evaluates equipment needs and costs; and continually evaluates repair costs. * Update Data : Maintains and keeps an updated circle data list, equipment list, and tool list. * Follow Bank Accounts : Checking, liquid asset accounts, and operating line accounts. * Follow Business Expenses : Fuel usage, cellular phone usage, equipment and vehicle leases, and office expenses. * Other Responsibilities : Approve payroll; approve billings; approve accounts payable; continue to change and grow with the industry. Skills & Experience * Requires a Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Requires a valid Washington Pesticide Commercial Applicator License (all categories). * Requires a valid Dealer Manager Pesticide License. * Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Exceptional MS Excel skills with ability to collect, summarize and analyze data.
