The Salvation Army Part-time Store Clerk at Kenai Thrift Store in Kenai, Alaska
Position Description: Clerk (Thrift Store / Warehouse / Family Services)
Supervisor: Thrift Store Manager
Status: Part Time – 29 hrs/wk Hourly Wage: $10.34
The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church and the ultimate goal of all programs is a spiritual regeneration of all people. As a result, it is a necessity that the employee will place emphasis on people consistent with the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army, namely, the Salvation, regeneration, and reclamation of men and women, boys and girls through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God's only Son.
This position will be primarily required to work at the Kenai Store, but may at times need to work in different locations consisting of the Soldotna Store, Warehouse, Food Bank, or Business Office and will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of those ministry locations.
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
Must be able to stand for entire shift and able to lift and carry 70 lbs.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills as well as able to perform basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
Able to work/interact effectively with the public, co-workers, and volunteers.
Able to understand and follow instructions.
Must be able to demonstrate the highest level of business and client confidentiality.
Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army.
THRIFT STORE / WAREHOUSE DUTIES:
Maintain stock: Including but not limited to, sorting, hanging, pricing, merchandising, and discarding of non-usable items.
Operate cash register, help with customers, and do daily cash sheets.
Clean and keep store inside/outside in a presentable appearance.
Handle all donations on behalf of The Salvation Army in a professional and competent manner.
FOOD BANK DUTIES: (As needed/training allows)
Prepare food baskets/commodities.
Food pick-ups as needed.
Clean food area daily.
ASSIST CORPS OFFICER IN OTHER CORPS BUSINESS AS NEEDED.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
