General Dynamics Information Technology Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Bridge Resource Management (BRM)/Senior Navigation Instructor/Trainer in Jacksonville, Florida

Must be prepared to support the Train to Qualify (T2Q) and Train to Certify (T2C) process utilizing shore-based trainer requiring dynamic assessment of watchstanders during integrated scenarios.

Primary instruction in Bridge Resource Management (BRM) for LCS-1 Class platforms in support of LCS-1 Crew Certification Training. Primary focus of training is safe operation and safety of navigation, mentorship and training for the Commanding Officer (CO), Executive Officer (XO), Navigator, Officer of the Deck (OOD), Junior Officer of the Deck (JOOD), Conning Officer and the ship’s navigation team.

Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.

Supports Formal Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conducts training gap analysis provides formal feedback and recommendation for Course improvement.

Based on seniority; will be responsible for the preparations of subordinate instructor’s annual performance appraisals for leadership.

Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.

Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.

Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Provides advanced knowledge and guidance on the structure and improvements of the on-site and/or in-house training classes, seminars, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises and discussion groups for customers and/or employees.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant and highly advanced training trends and technology.

Candidate will be required to support a second shift work schedule on a rotational basis.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

Three (3) Years of experience as a Commanding Officer of a USN vessel, or USCG -licensed Master or Chief Mate with 36-months at-sea experience in that position (unlimited tonnage).

Previous experience and familiarity with waterjet-powered vessels preferred. Candidates who meet minimum requirements above but have no previous waterjet experience will attend and successfully graduate from the LCS OOD course of instruction.

Ten (10) total years of experience all facets of navigation, professional ship handling, ship operations in accordance with the International and Inland Rules of the Road. Desired LCS or operational Fleet experience as a qualified Underway Officer of the Deck (OOD) or USCG licensed Master. Of the ten years, three (3) years of experience as an instructor/trainer/evaluator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.

Experience as a Trainer in support of SWOS and/or CSCS is a significant plus. Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Travel may be required up to 10% of time.
