Whitsons Culinary Group Registered Dietitian - Corporate Nutrition in Islandia, New York

SUMMARY: This position reports to the Director of Nutrition Services and resides in the Nutrition department. Responsibilities primarily include nutrition support services such as menu analysis, recipe entry, menu crediting, ensuring compliance with Whitsons specifications and government regulations, as well as developing training and education materials and fielding community inquiries relating to nutrition. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assist Corporate Dietitian Manager during administrative reviews by ensuring menus, recipes and production records are in compliance. * Assure that ingredient and recipe information is accurate in all nutrition related software (Nutrikids, Genesis, X3, Dine Central). * Input and evaluate products/recipes in above listed software programs, while analyzing and tagging them according to the USDA FBG crediting system. * Monitor the evolving nutrition related claims supported by the organization. * Provide product and menu nutritional analysis as needed to customers and clients. * Support the field and culinary center nutrition needs by assisting with menu creation and client based nutritional requests. * Create and nutritionally analyze bid menus for schools, seniors and homeless shelters. * Develop and engage in nutrition related presentations as requested by clients/customers, the field and corporate office. * Maintain a current understanding of the rules and regulation concerning school lunch for individual states and the USDA and communicate any changes with the team. * Have a working knowledge of various rules and regulations related to the FDA and USDA FSIS labeling regulations for institutional and retail sales. * Maintain a current understanding of MNT related to the healthcare/hospital environment. * Have a working knowledge of the different nutritional standards under the Dietary Guidelines for Americans for multiply age groups (infants to elderly). * Field parent and community inquiries regarding nutrition related questions and concerns. * Participate in Corporate Wellness events and engage with the Wellness Team on future project and plans. Education: * Master’s degree in food and nutrition (qualified or in progress). * Applicant should be well versed on the rules and regulations of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program under the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act guidelines. Certifications: * CDR certified. Soon to be certified dietitian’s welcome. Computer Skills: * Must be proficient in all computer applications in particular menu analysis programs. * Working knowledge of basic computing and MS Excel spreadsheet programs * Proficient in PowerPoint and Word Other Qualifications, Experience and Competencies: * Two or more years’ experience in a school food production facility preferred. Entry level applicants welcome. * Able to handle multiple tasks in a changing work environment. Work well under deadline focused conditions. * Excellent communication and research skills. * Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime weeknights and/or weekends to accommodate urgent project deadlines. * Requires occasional travel to client locations within and outside New York to accommodate field requests. Must provide own transportation.
