What you’ll be doing...

Business Analytics Center of Excellence (BACoE) at Verizon champions the deployment of progressive solutions and methodologies, to support data-driven innovation, and self-serve decision management.

The BACoE is currently looking for a versatile data expert with an appetite for analytics in a cloud and open-source environment, to join the team. Critical expectation of the role is to move beyond compiling data, and help tell a story behind the numbers, for reliable decisions. The position offers an opportunity to drive better partnering and insights, while helping grow leadership skills. You will be considered a business partner and your contributions will make a difference. You will become involved in, but not be limited to, supporting significant decisions and new initiatives across the company.

  • Architect end-to-end data management processes and tools, to support decision management across finance, by leveraging big data and cloud technologies.

  • Assess the impact of data-driven strategies in financial decisions, and present recommendations to leadership, using modern analytics practices.

  • Design, develop and implement practical analytics solutions; complying with Verizon prescribed tech platforms, tools and architecture.

  • Develop data models and cubes, diagnose, validate, and improve their performance over time, while deplying across multiple platforms.

  • Build and enable complex decision systems that integrate varied data from finance, business, demographic and telecom systems.

  • Independently engage and communicate across all levels of the business and functions.

What we’re looking for...

You have proven experience in building data-driven automation processes, integrating AI/ML algorithms, or developing successful data models that have improved business efficiency and accuracy. Experience with not just large and complex datasets, but also cloud and open-source platforms will help you excel in this role. Understanding current data technologies and analytics methodologies, will be the key to effectively supporting our customers and partners.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Analytics, IT, Ops Research, Statistics or a related field; or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Independent project management experience.

  • Experience working on big data and cloud technologies, or the use of digital tools like Python, GCP, AWS, Knime, Hive, Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Data Management, Analytics, IT, Ops Research, Statistics or a related field.

  • Experience in technology and/or telecommunications industry, in analytics or data management roles.

  • A high degree of analytical capability, with demonstrated ability to structure business cases around strategic vision.

  • Knowledge of corporate financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies and processes.

  • Experience leading large and complex team projects with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with at least three of GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, REST, NoSQL, DevOps, Microservices; and expertise with at least one dynamic language to build data science applications.
