GC Services Senior Accountant in Houston, Texas


Challenging and stimulating position that utilizes accounting knowledge and principles and develops analytical and supervisory skills.



  • Prepares standard entries on a monthly basis. Information for the entries is obtained via reports, is analyzed on spreadsheets and placed into entry format, and is submitted for entry.

  • Reconciles various balance sheet and bank accounts on a monthly basis. Ledgers are printed detailing monthly activity for each account and the balance is reconciled.

  • Conducts the monthly close. Analyze several cost centers for accounting accuracy and make the necessary changes to correct any outstanding issues. Communicate with the managers in each cost center to gather information and resolve any outstanding issues.

  • Prepares the monthly projection numbers for overhead. Ledgers are printed detailing the recurring monthly entries, accruals and invoices paid. This information is used to project the amount of activity for each expense and revenue account for overhead.

  • Prepares the monthly calendar. This will detail the daily activity for the monthly close.

  • Prepares the General Ledger Benchmarking Report. During the monthly close, reports are collected detailing the daily activity (entries submitted). This information is analyzed and entered into a spreadsheet that produces a sigma number that is used to track accuracy.

  • Prepares the budgeted capital expenditures portion of the Financial Reporting Package. A copy of the prior months capital expenditures is obtained and entered into a spreadsheet that keeps record of capital spending and budgeting for the year.

  • Reviews and approves the work of the staff accountants in the department; this includes journal entries, standard entries, and reconciliations.

  • Maintains asset inventory control.

  • Maintain concentration and focus in order to meet performance goals

  • Maintain good working relationship with assigned supervisors and coworkers

  • Work safely without presenting a threat to self or others

  • Perform additional duties as required by management



Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required


  • 4+ years of experience in general accounting functions

  • PeopleSoft knowledge preferred

  • Working knowledge of GAAP

    Computer Experience:

    Employees must be able to type quickly and accurately, use a mouse effectively, and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, and Outlook.
