Actalent Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Homer, Michigan


The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for controlling all steps of manufacturing process engineering including: engineering, time cycle and investment verification and production costs, as well as the technological improvement of manufacturing processes within the plant. They will basically be developing processes, maintaining tooling and setting up new processes. It is very important that this person is able to complete projects on time, has strong communication across the manufacturing plant and is results driven.

This position is a 50/50 split office space and on the floor. When they are on the floor they are going to be assessing processes, studying the processes and working with hourly employees to ensure they are following the processes. They will not be hands on the equipment. An example of a project they may work on is designing and setting up a process, doing plant layout, doing time studies and evaluating how process is performing and doing any continuous improvements on the specific program.

Responsibilities include:

-They will have to plan and evaluate the development of new projects

-Support ongoing preparation for IATF audit

-Plan different plant activities (technology tests, organizer the job in the tool room, auto core setting)

-Ensure the efficient and effective progress of all process engineering steps, improving them as planning within the procedures and instructions, in order to guarantee the manufacturing processes efficiently and safely

-Guarantees a first analysis of deviations concerning area activities, managing relations with suppliers and suggesting possible solutions in order to achieve continuous improvement

-Plant improvement initiatives and new program launches

Skills & Qualifications:

-5+ years' experience within engineering (can be manufacturing or process engineer)

-Knowledge and understanding of IATF

-Experience implementing continuous improvement activities/projects

-Project Management experience (does not need PM title but needs to have experience leading projects)

-Bachelor's Degree


-Automotive experience

-Foundry experience

-3D programming (CATIA or MAGMA)
