SHIFT: D

Job Summary

Ensure the molding department produces high quality, low cost molded components for the assembly departments by setting and pulling molds, diagnosing and repairing problems, maintaining machines and implementing continuous improvements.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with equipment, processes and components.

  • Monitor and maintain equipment safety devices.

  • Monitor and maintain proper component quality standards.

  • Coordinate and monitor proper start up and shut down of the molding processes in the area. Coordinate and monitor the maintenance of system filters and Conair system.

  • Maintain press/mold/auxiliary control to avoid damage at start up.

  • Perform pull / sets of mold tools.

  • Set up and maintain granulators, conveyors, separators, mold temp control units, water temp control units, resin dryers and scales for assigned machines.

  • Perform required inspections, mold approvals, rejections, set up of gages and leak testing, etc. Responsible for accurate and timely production reporting.

  • Assist mold mechanic in the assessment of mechanical mold press issues or electrical mold press issues and assist with repairs when needed.

  • Perform and ensure completion of all PMs.

  • Ensure all inspections are completed in a timely manner.

  • Assist with the completion of continuous improvement projects.

  • Ensure supportive/accurate communication between the shifts.

  • Ensure proper clean up and disposal of waste water and waste oil.

  • Assist in training new personnel as requested.

  • Must maintain regular, punctual attendance.

Education:

HS Diploma/GED required

Experience:

1 year previous molding experience or equivalent required.

Previous machine attendant or mold apprentice experience preferred.

Experience in hydraulics, mechanics and pneumatics preferred.

Experience with the operation of large molding presses and controls preferred.

Knowledge, skills or abilities required: (e.g. tools, equipment, hardware or software).

  • Very good working knowledge of molds.

  • Thorough working knowledge of mold press and auxiliary equipment.

  • Must be able to distinguish between a mold or press problem.

  • Must be knowledgeable of all product defects, standards, specifications, blue prints and procedures.

Preferred:

  • General knowledge of molding machines, resins and processes;

  • Good understanding of mold design and operation;

  • Thorough knowledge of all molded parts, quality specifications and inspection procedures;

Supervisory Responsibility:

May be required to take a leading role, such as assigning activities to other Associates who perform work that is similar or closely related to this position (less than 50% of the time).
