JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Registered Nurse provides long term and rehabilitation care to residents providing routine daily nursing care according to the resident’s care plan. An RN works as a team member under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor and Director of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with RN Supervisor to ensure best possible functions of assigned unit
Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
Prepares and administers and records prescribed medications
Records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
Assesses the patients’ ability to do routine daily tasks.
Recognizes and manages geriatric syndromes common to older adults, including: cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, hematological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, neurological, psychiatric/psychosocial, integumentary, sensory and pain problems.
Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
Communicate with family members regarding patient
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree from an accredited school of nursing
Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York require
Education or experience in long term care or geriatric nursing is preferred
Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
Strong customer service skills and compassion
