Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Systems Strength Analysis Engineer to join us as part of our MQ-25 team located in Hazelwood, MO .

The MQ-25 is a new autonomous, unmanned carrier based refueling air vehicle. The MQ-25 program is working the Engineering and Manufacturing Development of 7 flight vehicles and two full-scale test articles for the Navy. The mechanical systems team is responsible for definition of many systems elements elements on the vehicle, including fuel, hydraulics, environmental control systems, mechanisms, landing gear and pylon.

Systems strength engineers support the build by analyzing required design changes, assisting in disposition of nonconformances across many of the mechanical systems areas (fuel, hydraulics, equipment, electrical, mechanisms, landing gear, and environmental control systems). The Systems strength team also support the review of supplier test plans and reports for qualification to the aerospace environment. The MQ-25 uses a model based design engineering release process, and product data management tools. This is an excellent opportunity to experience the first vehicle production and testing process on a new franchise platform.

This position is expected to act as the Chief Systems Strength engineer on the MQ-25 program.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements enterprise level approaches to structural and stability analysis and testing

  • Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements

  • Works with customers and regulatory agencies to develop certification standards and define processes that will ensure requirements are met

  • Reviews and approves certification results

  • Works independently

Hybrid schedule (in office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and virtual work allowed Monday, and Fridays if program needs can still be met.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics

  • 15+ years’ experience in structural analysis methods and tools such as Finite Element Analysis

  • 15+ years’ experience in mechanical systems design or analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Experience working with computer aided design such as CATIA, Solidworks, or Siemens NX

  • Experience with Finite Element Models (FEM)

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
