A day in the life of a Senior Legal Counsel...

We are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel in our Teva Harlow site (Essex) to join the European IP & Regulatory Litigation department to support the European business through pan-European regional patent litigation.

Main accountabilities will be:

  • Working with the patents, commercial and regulatory teams to develop product launch strategies

  • Developing and managing complex, high value pan-European pharmaceutical patent litigation strategies to advance Teva’s commercial objectives

  • Building relationships with key business partners and advising on patent litigation and other aspects of the litigation team’s work

  • Collaborating with global colleagues for parallel product launches and litigation

  • Investigating and assessing disputes, developing settlement strategies, advising the business and leading negotiations

  • Developing policy positions in collaboration with global colleagues and advocating for these positions both internally and with external industry associations

  • Providing policy expertise to internal government affairs and business colleagues

  • Instructing and managing external law firms and counsel ensuring adherence with strict cost management principles at all times

  • Preparing emails/memos of advice, drafting court documents, detailed correspondence and settlement documentation

  • Managing several established dispute resolution processes and pro-actively considering measures to improve the efficient resolution and/or prevention of disputes

  • Implementing existing and developing further, litigation team policies and processes

  • Assisting with risk management/dispute prevention initiatives


Do you have...?

  • Proven experience of international IP litigation within a pharmaceutical/life sciences company or law firm representing equivalent clients

  • Proven track record of managing a complex and high value/impact caseload and operating with the highest degree of integrity

  • Business understanding of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Ability to develop cross functional / cultural relationships

  • Excellent working knowledge in pharmaceutical patent law

  • Drafting skills

Are you...?

  • Qualified lawyer from an EU or UK jurisdiction

  • Excellent communicator and analytical.

  • Able to convey and discuss IP issues in clear understandable terms

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
