Position Summary:To provide professional therapeutic services to children with emotional and psychiatric problems and their families. Position Requirements


  • Education:

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a similar field of study from an accredited university.(60 Credit Hour Program)

  • Previous Professional Experience:

  • Preferred: Professional experience in clinical management within a multi-disciplinary treatment team setting, child/adolescent diagnosing, and psychological assessment & treatment of children and adolescents.

  • License and/or Certification:

  • Required: License to operate a passenger vehicle

  • Required: Montana SWLC, or PCLC

  • Preferred: LCSW, or LCPC

  • Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Ability to relate and build rapport with youth and families therapeutically

  • Ability to work in cooperation and collaboration with the treatment team

  • Ability to adhere to code of ethics including The Child and Youth Worker Code of Ethics, The National Association of Social Worker Code, and The American Psychological Association Code

  • Ability and willingness to maintain and enhance the clinical skillset

  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain professional therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality with youth and families

  • Knowledge of behavior modification and age-appropriate child development

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and flexibility

  • Excellent active listening skills

  • Good computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.

  • Good judgment and decision-making skills

  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance:Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.

Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements:

  • Office Environment: Employees are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.

  • Must be able to remain in stationary position frequently.

  • The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as copier and printer.

  • The person in this position will constantly communicate with clients, their treatment team, and others. Must be able to communicate accurate information and accurately understand information communicated by those individuals.

  • Must be able to perceive, recognize, and observe client's behavior to include non-verbal cues expressed by the client.


Hiring Range Salary$782.37 - $946.35 weekly ($40,683-$49,210 annualized) depending on experience and licensure.

About the OrganizationYellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch was founded in 1956 and welcomed the first boy to the ranch in 1957. Today Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, a nonprofit organization, is trusted locally and nationally as a leader in the field of mental health care for children and their families.

Our Residential Treatment is located on a 410 acre, working farm and ranch located in Billings, MT. We offer a continuum of mental health services that include case management, youth mentoring, home/school-based programs and foster care in addition to residential treatment. We specialize in treating troubled youth who struggle with social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. We also have four Community Based Services locations in Livingston, Lewistown, Dillon, and Billings. With all of our locations we impact about 650 kids each day. And throughout our history, YBGR has impacted close to 10,000 youth and their families.
