Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Glastonbury, Connecticut

Hiring for a Mechanical Engineer; interested in power generation and supporting multi-power generation projects for a global corporation in Glastonbury, CT!

Description:

3-5 Must Haves:

Engineering Degree

1-2 year Minimum Experience with Gas or Steam Turbines

Ability to work on a variety of projects with conflicting schedules (will work on 3/4 projects/jobs at a time)

Day to Day this engineer will primarily be working with Customer Support Engineering (CSE). This group provides direct engineering support to customer base, providing all functional support necessary including those disciplines associated with the gas generator, free power turbine, electrical systems, generators and controls, lube, fuel, water injection, bleed air and hydraulic starting systems, associated auxiliary skids, including all enclosure structures as well as inlet and exhaust systems necessary to support electrical power generation in the global market place.

Customers include both public and privately owned utilities, as well as independent power producers. Individuals working in the CSE organization will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to all aspects of system and component level engineering provided by PWPS, with specific activities related to the following functional items:

• Assurance of expected powerplant operability and supporting control systems necessary to maintain operational readiness for FT8 and FT4000 aero derivative fleets.

• Support of the Product Management process through active participation and implementation of all customer powerplant system controls action plans necessary to ensure fleet safety, reliability, maintainability and supportability objectives.

• Resolution of identified field problems through effective trouble shooting and timely responses to internal/external customer’s requests and technical inquiries.

• Development of any new and/or improved fault isolation (FIM) and troubleshooting procedures in place for FT8 and FT4000 aero derivative fleets. Coordinate identified updates with both internal and external approving authorities.

• Present major issues and solutions to internal & external customers and/or program management teams at various meetings including the annual user conferences.
