The Boeing Company Experienced Technical Writer in Germantown, Maryland
Digital Receiver Technology, Inc. (DRT), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company located in Germantown, MD, is looking for an Experienced Technical Writer . DRT is a premier provider of SIGINT and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This position requires the ability to product documentation such as datasheets, manuals and help files. This position will be located onsite in Germantown, MD on first shift.
Create original user documentation and data sheets for telecommunications equipment in hard and soft copy.
Use Help-generation program such as RoboHelpto create online Help files for inclusion in DRT software products.
Assist with printing and binding of DRT manuals and DRT equipment data sheets as needed.
Use Adobe Suite of graphics programs (Illustrator, Photoshop) and MS Visio to create graphic illustrations.
Use digital camera to take of photos of DRT equipment.
Use RoboHelp, MS Office applications, and Adobe Acrobat to create documents.
Operate printers when needed.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22. C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Science or English
5+ years of experience in Technical Writing
5+ years of experience with Power Point, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Familiarity with HTML or XML.
Familiarity with SW repository systems, such as, SVN
Telecommunications or military experience helpful
Oral communications capability (to elicit information from engineers)
Experience with single-source documentation programs, such as RoboHelp
Knowledge of image and document compression issues
Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).
