J&J Family of Companies Manager, Manufacturing Engineering in Fremont, California

CERENOVUS, part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to be located in Fremont, CA.

This position is a Fixed Term role and requires the ability to support the anticipated duration of 2 years, depending upon on business needs.

Every six seconds someone dies from a stroke. CERENOVUS is committed to changing the trajectory of stroke by providing physicians with innovative technologies to push the boundaries of what’s possible in neurovascular intervention. CERENOVUS offers a broad portfolio of devices used in the endovascular treatment of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.

The Manager, Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for the direction and leadership to the manufacturing engineering organization in support of existing and new production facilities and processes that are aligned with operational strategies and goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a team of Engineers and Technicians.

  • Responsible for the complete direction and evaluation of his/her work team. Directs his/her team according to the applicable policies and laws.

  • His/her responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing their work, monitoring their development, rewarding and discipline employees, assign complaints and solve conflicts.

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to the next management level.

  • Responsible for ensuring direct reports are following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.

  • Responsible for ensuring personnel and Company compliance with all International, Federal, State, local and Company regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures.

  • Procure and oversee outside vendors and consultants as required

  • Manages projects associated with industrial design, new facility layouts, facility upgrades, and design and installation of new production and material handling equipment, process improvements, cost containments, yield improvements, and scrap reduction

  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree life sciences, engineering, business or equivalent is required

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in manufacturing is required

  • Extensive experience in FDA, QSR, ISO, MDD and CMDR regulations is required

  • Good leadership and interpersonal relations are required

  • Knowledge of the requirements of Quality Systems like ISO or QSR are required

  • Clear theoretical ability and practice of fundamental engineering techniques applicable to the function of supervising is required

  • Profound technical knowledge of equipment and maintenance systems of installations, as well as equipment calibration standards, tools and documentation control systems in a regulated manufacturing environment is required

  • Ability to manage projects, limits, scopes and terms, knowledge of the principles and methods, tools and techniques of Project Management is preferred

  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement world-class manufacturing practices like JJPS that include lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, among others is preferred

  • Knowledge of financial concepts applied to manufacturing, which include budget and cost control is required

  • Working knowledge of applicable requirements related to the MDSAP jurisdictions is preferred

  • This position will be located in Fremont, CA and may require up to 25% domestic & international travel.

  • This position is a Fixed Term role and requires the ability to support the anticipated duration of 2 years, depending upon on business needs.
