Northern Lights YMCA - Escanaba Aquatics Coordinator in Escanaba, Michigan

Job Title: Aquatics Coordinator                                              Job Grade: V

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Aquatic Director and in accordance with the association and policies of the Northern Lights YMCA, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Aquatic Director in leadership, developing, organizing, and implementing high quality YMCA aquatic programs.  Provides assistance in leadership, instruction and motivation for aquatics staff and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with program delivery and development including instructing where qualified.
  2. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  3. Assist with Administrative aspects of General Aquatics, including recruiting, hiring, certifying, training, orientations, and customer service.
  4. Assist with Administrative aspects of High School & NLY Swim Team programs.
  5. Assisting with developing and managing budget areas of accountability. Assist with management of program registrations and recommend cancelling, combine or run classes.
  6. Know safety and risk management: risk management, emergency procedures, and implement emergency drills.
  7. Assist with maintenance of pool operations and equipment.
  8. Assist the promoting and marketing of all programs including but not limited to swim lessons, water aerobics, safety programs, and swim team.
  9. Assist in fundraising efforts.
  10. Must be able to successfully interact with members of all ages & community in / out of the pool, build relationships.
  11. Assist with Building Supervisor or Front Desk services as needed.
  12. Lead water fitness classes, swim lessons and other water activities as needed.
  13. Lifeguard when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum age of 18.

The Aquatic Coordinator must have swimming experience.

The ability and background to work with children is necessary.

The Aquatic Coordinator must have current certification in CPR & AED for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor
