Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Auto Hobby shop and the Arts and Crafts Shop, Edwards AFB California . Must have the ability to perform common math problems. Frequently stands, bends, stoops, and crawls. Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Responsibilities This position is for a Recreation Aid for Skills Development, which includes the Auto Hobby Shop and the Arts & Crafts shop. Responsible for operating cash register, collecting money, making change, and issuing receipts. At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork, and submits entire package to supervisor. Provides assistance when requested to customers and other staff. Uses small equipment within the Arts & Crafts shop. Prepares verbal and written estimates for customers and notifies customers when orders are complete. Provides customer service, answers telephones, and assists shop users in selecting and purchasing materials or stall/lift rental. Maintains clean, neat, and safe work area. Stocks merchandise received. Assists with planning or and carrying out Arts & Crafts programs within Skills Development, including set up, clean up, and assistance with classes and workshops. Performs weekly, monthly, and other preventative maintenance on shop equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
