Air Force Materiel Command Inventory Management Specialist in Edwards AFB, California

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Resource Management Flight on Edwards AFB, CA. Must be physically able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Responsibilities Inventory Management Specialist: Primary purpose of this position is to provide a superintendent over facility, vehicle, and equipment maintenance/repair for all FSS Cat B and Cat C activities. This position will ensure that all property is signed for by activity managers, is properly marked and tracked. Will assist managers with identifying and obtaining needed equipment and ensure compliance with property procedures including turn in of paperwork and disposal of unserviceable equipment. Recommends corrective actions to managers and Flight Chiefs for property that is not properly protected and secured. Recommends, through the RMFC report of survey for missing APF property and report of loss for NAF property. Responsible for oversight of the Vehicle Control program for all NAF vehicles, to include required reporting. Monitors vehicle operations to ensure most effective use of vehicles. Recommends replacement, transfer, exchange of vehicles, etc., as appropriate. Monitors reports, suspense actions, inspections, maintenance, and repair and upkeep of all vehicles for the squadron. Provides guidance to management on policies and procedures relating to the Vehicle Management Program. Reviews operational requirements and tracks condition of vehicles used by squadron. Responsible for oversight of the Vehicle Control program for all NAF vehicles, to include required reporting. This position will be responsible to perform a multitude of facility upgrades (traditional "self-help" type work) as well as routine facility maintenance in NAF activities. A requirement to operate heavy equipment (specialized vehicles such as, but not limited to, forklifts) maybe required. This position also maintains a wide array of MWR equipment. Interprets and applies manufactures repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, environmental and safety manuals to ensure completed work meets industry standard specifications. Ensures internal controls are in place to preclude or minimize potential for fraud, waste, and abuse. Acts as the alternate Unit Environmental Coordinator (UEC) monitoring the Squadron's Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) program. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must possess basic computer skills to support office operations. Must have the ability to maintain records using various computer based systems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written in the English language. Working knowledge of all aspects of facility, vehicle, and equipment repair; skilled in the wide use of both power and hand tools. Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and determine the appropriate way forward to correct any deficiencies. Must be able to read and interpret specifications for a large variety of equipment. Requires a valid driver's license and demonstrated history of safe driving practices. Must have a valid state driver's license and the ability to obtain an AF Motor Vehicle Operator Identification Card. A current forklift license is desirable. Must work independently and be able to prioritize workload. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI). Valid driver's license required. Must satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug test and any random test thereafter. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
