This role aims to develop new and innovative data analytics services as well as deploy existing services that support UnitedHealth Group’s mission of “helping people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone”. Driven by intrinsic curiosity, a drive to solve problems, and proven approaches to data analytics, work towards improving the customer experience, solving business problems, and creating new analytics offerings. Uses superb verbal and written communication skills to convey to business leaders the compelling story gleaned from the data. Applies keen knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to actionable insights. Uses proven yet flexible, analytical approaches to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data. Works with analytics and statistical software such as SQL, R, Python, Bayesian Network Analysis, and others to perform analysis and interpret data. Has experience using tools such as Alteryx and others to streamline work, automate, and scale. Is adept at data prep and connecting large data sets. Enjoys exploring varied business areas and has experience developing a robust service catalog of analytics that mature over time as well as finding new opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, and relevant technical discipline such as Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in with data analysis and predictive analytics machine learning/statistical modeling techniques

  • 5+ years of experience with programming languages or packages such as Python, R, SQL, etc, including data extraction techniques across multiple database technologies

  • Exploratory data analysis skills including understanding, cleaning, transforming, and reducing datasets prior to analysis

  • Experience synthesizing and connecting large amounts of data identifying trends and opportunities

  • Experience applying statistical methods and math to structured and unstructured data

  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a consultant

  • Adept at building relationships, credibility and trust with those you serve

  • Experience in high volume/transaction industries

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • Broad exposure to the full customer lifecycle

  • Business to Business as well as Business to Consumer experience

  • Experience with packages such as Tableau or others for report development and data presentation

  • Interest and aptitude for coaching and mentoring less experienced team members

  • Interest in developing and pursuing patents

  • Comfort and ability to shift focus areas quickly based on demand

  • Exemplary communication skills and ability to translate data into actionable recommendations for business partners

  • Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects and capacity to foster a healthy teamwork environment

  • Growth mindset and has demonstrated experience building innovative solutions and maturing them over time

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
