Nestle E & A Engineering Technician (2nd shift) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

SHIFT: 2nd shift M-F 3pm -11:30pm


Operations Support

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting of existing electrical and automation systems to minimize unplanned downtime, quality defects, and waste

  • Complete incident investigations for downtime and quality deviations to determine root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions

  • Actively engage in Nestle Continuous Excellence and TPM initiatives

  • Provide coaching/training to mechanics and operators on the shop floor

System Maintenance

  • Ensure existing electrical and automation systems are properly maintained through regular inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance activities

  • Analyze the current electrical/automation install base for the availability of spare parts and product lifecycle status; propose changes required for continued support/part availability

Project Management & Execution:

  • Conduct estimation, and execution of small to medium scale electrical/automation projects for the factory

  • Develop and implement project descriptions, plans, timelines, resources requirements, costs and other associated project details

  • Interface with vendors, develop bid specifications, participate in design reviews, and factory acceptance testing

  • Oversee installations and verify compliance with NFPA, OSHA and Nestle standards.

Safety and Environmental:

  • Follow all plant safety rules

  • Report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately

  • Maintain compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, policies, and objectives


  • Follow Nestle GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)

  • Report food safety and quality issues immediately

  • Maintain compliance with all food safety and quality regulations, policies, and objectives


One of the following is required as a minimum:

  • Associate’s Degree that relates to controls, automation, power, and/or electro-mechanical fields

  • 3+ years of related experience will be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree


Preferred: Troubleshooting industrial process control systems (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, low voltage power/control wiring, instrumentation, networks, etc.). PLC/HMI program modification for process improvements or adding/removing devices. Small to medium sized project management.


  • Above average communication and project management skills (written and oral)

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; AutoCAD experience is preferred

  • Working knowledge of industrial electricity, 480 VAC (3 Phase), control systems, and MCCs

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams

  • Competency with the following:

  • Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC 5, SLC 500)

  • Rockwell Software (RSLogix 5/500/5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View, Asset Centre)

  • PanelView/PanelView Plus

  • Wonderware Application Server (ArchestrA) and InTouch HMI

  • Intellution iFIX

  • Industrial Networks – Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.

  • Siemens S7

  • Siemens VFDs
