The Financial Analyst I position within the Controller's Student Account Office performs a wide range of the following administrative and analytical duties necessary to support the Student Billing & Receivables area to provide day to day support of business needs and drive process improvement: develop and manages department policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complex issues; manage and oversees accounting procedures affecting the Student Receivables billing system; research and correct billing and account issues and makes recommendations; responsible for all lost check processing and returned ACH's; responsible for accurateness of student refunds; monitor batch entry totals and investigate discrepancies and processing trends; review various payment application reports and prepares various edocs when necessary; serve as the primary lead worker and oversee Student Billing & Receivables staff including staff attendance records; serve as unit liaison, advise and counsel students, parents and other University personnel of office policies and procedures; consult closely with Assistant Manager and Student Accounts Manager on the short-term and long-term operational planning procedures. Assist with special projects as required and perform a variety of additional functions contributing to the goals and objectives of the student information systems implementation project.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree in accounting or business related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, database and spreadsheet software; experience interpreting and implementing federal regulations, or in performing responsibilities related to operational activities of an office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field; one to three years of experience in account reconciliation and reporting; demonstrated strong verbal and business and technical writing skills and ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing to explain policies and procedures to promote understanding and positive customer focused service; knowledge of University policies and procedures including Enterprise Business System (EBS); ability to work independently and with confidence to take initiative and to be proactive; proven experience in problem solving, organizational, interpersonal skills; and ability to handle multiple tasks, details, and prioritize to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude in a team environment.
