DaVita Vice President, Procurement in Denver, Colorado

DaVita Inc. is a Fortune 500® company, that through its operating divisions, provides a variety of health care services to patient populations throughout the United States and abroad. A leading provider of dialysis services in the United States, DaVita treats patients with chronic kidney failure and end stage renal disease.

We currently seek a Vice President of Procurement to join our Village, work at our World Headquarters in Denver and report to our CFO of Kidney Care. The procurement leader will be a successful change agent focused on our Kidney Care business who can develop strong relationships with senior leaders and build collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. This position will play a critical role in setting the strategic vision for the future of DaVita’s procurement while working with internal stakeholders to identify constituents’ needs, develop and implement strategies to meet those needs, promote a positive teammate and customer experience, and execute fiscal responsibility. This position must uphold the Core Values of DaVita and comply with DaVita policies and regulations.

This role will be responsible for $5B in spend, with major categories of spend including equipment, medical supplies, pharma, office supplies insurance, logistics, utilities, construction and skilled support.

Procurement Oversight & Strategy:

  • Develop / Own the Procurement Strategy and Roadmap to enable spend leverage and competitive pricing, quality, delivery, and risk management within the vendor base

  • Own and shape policies to match Procurement Strategy

  • Develop a high performing procurement team to support DaVita needs

Procurement Operations:

  • Identify procurement best practice processes and lead standardization & optimization

  • Business owner for all procurement IT systems, requirements & roadmap (e.g. P2P Systems, ERP)

  • Process improvement initiative sponsorship within the procurement arena

  • Manage DaVita procurement execution (RFPs, contracts, performance to targets, etc.)

Spend Reduction and Optimization:

  • Drive cost and control initiatives, in partnership with Village teams, to realize spend reduction opportunities

  • Manage spend growth against budgets and benchmarks and deliver business results including working capital improvement

Spend and Category Data & Analytics

  • Develop and lead the Procurement Data & Analytics team

  • Refine data & analytics strategy and reporting

  • Oversee the Category Data & Analytics team

  • Define adherence and enforcement of Category process & strategies

  • Interface with / Oversee category sourcing teams

Vendor Management

  • Define vendor management, performance and rationalization strategies

  • Develop strong partnership with the vendor onboarding team

  • Refine vendor onboarding processes

Additional Strengths:

  • Executive presence commensurate with a Vice President position with experience and comfort working directly with the C-Suite

  • Can explain and describe complex problems concisely; adjusts to audience and gains confidence and buy-in

Previous Experience:

  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline

  • MBA preferred

  • 15+ years in Procurement or Supply Chain Management role or consulting

  • 3-5 years in VP role preferred

  • Enterprise procurement software experience strongly preferred (e.g. P2P Systems, ERP)

  • Healthcare experience preferred, but not required
