GED and Soft Skills Educator

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Special Education Empowerment Educator. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about creating hope, opportunity, and choice, with work serving as the means through which people can transform their lives. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and delivering an evidence-based curriculum. Their goal will be to prepare approximately 200 students per year, who have special educational needs, for the GED exam and future employment. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to make a significant impact in the lives of students and the community. Empowerment and Assessment: Introduce the program and conduct assessments to determine educational levels, career interests, soft skills, and goal setting. Skill Development and Enhancement: Conduct GED preparation classes and soft skills training workshops. Application and Transition: Assist students in final GED preparation and employment readiness activities. Ongoing Support: Provide ongoing support, including personal and career counseling, and financial literacy workshops. Qualifications

SKILLS Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with various entities. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), grammar, and reasoning skills. Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 and its various programs. Commitment to working within an integrated services model. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information without breach. Crisis intervention skills supporting individuals with mental, physical, or other disabilities. Ability to coordinate and prioritize numerous activities, resources, and deadlines. Ability to work successfully in a team environment, as well as independently. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Creative problem solving. PREFERRED SKILLS Knowledge of Adult Education Theory Experience tracking student progress and educational growth Lifelong learner and self-starter committed to continuous program improvement and student outcomes Collaborative and professional team member Experience in teaching or tutoring, particularly for GED preparation, is a plus. Experience working with diverse communities is beneficial. Familiarity with the IPS model of supported employment Experience working with adults with special educational needs SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field Ability to obtain Adult Basic Education Authorization within three years Familiarity with secondary education content/High School Equivalency exams Understanding of group instruction principles and classroom management Strong interpersonal and communication skills CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid driver's license with the ability to pass Bayaud's motor vehicle carrier's insurance requirements. Pass background check for working with vulnerable populations. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bilingual (Spanish) may qualify for an increased salary offer. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportio s, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Understanding of basic family budgeting and fair market value. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
