Your Impact:

At Jacobs, we’re making our world better with project, and we know the importance of accurate estimates to the success of these projects. We are currently seeking an exceptionally motivated Mechanical Estimator to join our team.

Based in any Central, Southern or Western U.S. location , you’ll develop construction cost estimates for building systems, including but not limited to HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. You’ll interpret plans & specifications from multiple design phases; program, conceptual, design development through 100% Construction Documents and into change orders and generate quantity takeoffs and pricing for all systems. You’ll be familiar with techniques, procedures, methods and the nature of the applicable civil, mechanical construction systems. You’ll calculate costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data, collect cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors, and also prepare and maintain historical cost data. You’ll assist lead estimators with reporting functions and assembly of project deliverables, contribute to Risk Analyses, Value Engineering, Constructability exercises and create cost models for estimating elements.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field

• At least 5 years of experience within the mechanical construction industry

• Proficient skills with MS Software suite

• Experience with Timberline Estimating Software, On-Screen Takeoff

• United States Citizenship

• Ability to attain a U.S. security clearance

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Estimating certification from ASPE or AACE

• Experience with MII

• Strong and effective written, oral and presentation skills

• Able to complete tasks independently

• Adept at interpersonal relationship building and conflict resolution

Essential Functions:

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
