Job Description :
Minimum Job Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum years in field previous to employment: Minimum of seven (7) years experience in the discipline and five (5) years leadership experience
Position Responsibilities
Directs the development and implementation of programs and practices designed to ensure appropriate surveillance and other measures are taken to identify trends, clusters, and outliers of Healthcare acquired and selected community acquired infections, and used to support interventional activities to decrease patient morbidity/mortality and excess hospital stay
Oversees the continued development of the TheraDoc Electronic Surveillance Program, EPIC, and other data- mining resources as appropriate to allow continued enhancements and implementation of infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship programs system-wide
Serves as a consultant to administration, medical staff, department managers, employees, patients, and the community regarding infection control practices
Integrates theory and practice of microbiological applications to enable the detection of potential microbial pathogens in the environment of care; Oversees the adoption of evidence-based infection prevention practices
Oversees activities necessary for mandatory requirements related to public reporting of Infection Control data
Develops or Provides leadership in the development of the design and implementation of educational programs as required by regulatory agencies for all employees
Develops and reviews infection control policies to ensure that current practice meets professional and regulatory standards
Following notification, Implements the investigation, identification, and follow-up of patients exposed to significant communicable diseases.
Establishes mechanisms for the reporting of communicable diseases to the appropriate city, state, or regional health authorities as required by law
Provides leadership and expertise in assessment and action planning related to DNV, TJC, and CDC recommendations and standards; Participates in continuous survey readiness programs
Develops and Implements orientation programs for infection control
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to discuss NHSN reporting strategies and requirements -- Ability to conduct & interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis -- Advanced computer skills & knowledge of data systems
