This entry-level systems support position is part of a training program that will prepare you to assume a Regional Systems Support role. The training program is designed to provide continual learning in all aspects of lab systems operations and integration and field support activities. Throughout the training process, you'll work with all core systems and support functions, and also contribute to special projects to gain a broad understanding of processes, procedures and the systems that support lab operations. In addition to the qualifications described under The Requirements tab, the following is preferred but not required:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or another related field
Desktop support experience
Knowledge of the lens Rx business
Experience in Linux environments
Knowledge of SQL
More about the Role
During the program, you'll initially be assigned to work at specific labs within each region and support lab operations. Development rotations will be implemented across lab and operational departments. You'll work as part of a team responsible for systems support and improvements that will increase profitability, efficiency and flexibility of the Essilor Labs of America (ELOA) network. This will include serving as a liaison between regional leadership and the corporate team in Dallas.
You'll work with the lab team leaders within the assigned region to create an environment of trust where systems developments and enhancements are adopted and integrated into current working practices and where systems and technologies are fully utilized. This will include providing systems support, knowledge, and technical expertise to support lab goals and imperatives and maximize system improvement opportunities. You'll be responsible for all systems and lab outages, slowdowns, and setting up PCs and printers.
Specific duties will fall into four key areas. You will:
- Work to achieve subject matter expertise in:
Optifacts LMS and other lab applications deployed
Systems reporting capabilities
- Support lab team leaders within the region to meet operational excellence objectives defined below through the utilization of current systems and the deployment of systems improvements and new functionalities:
Service – turn-time, service level, and late jobs
Quality – breakage and redos
Unit Cost – finishing, coating, transportation
- Support continuous improvement by:
Ensuring a well-maintained and robust environment that meets current and future business needs by identifying areas of opportunity for continuous improvement
Preparation of functional requirements that will deliver lab-defined enhancements to meet business needs
Defining and capturing the metrics to measure the impact and success of these improvements
- Provide project support, including:
Gathering user requirements needed for new systems evaluation
Participating in the definition, evaluation, development, and deployment of new systems solutions to ELOA lab network
Process mapping to identify potential impact and risk areas

This is a great role if you would enjoy applying your IT and problem-solving skills in a functional working environment, working with all levels of lab users in all areas of Rx production. That means that interpersonal skills will be just as important as your technical knowledge. You'll need to take a patient approach to digging in to understand user needs, along with a knack for translating those needs into technical solutions. You also should have the influencing skills to help others buy in to changes.
