Huntington National Bank Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst in Columbus, Ohio
*This position will require the candidate to be in Columbus, OH.
The Corporate Development group is responsible for sourcing, analyzing & executing Huntington’s inorganic growth strategy. The team’s responsibilities include the identification of potential M&A opportunities, modeling the impact of proposed transactions, organization / oversight of the due diligence process and supporting the purchase agreement and regulatory approval processes. The team develops Huntington's M&A strategy by working closely with the board, executive leadership, segment partners and selected external advisors.
This position offers an opportunity for top-of-house visibility into the company and its strategies / financial performance as seen through the eyes of management, as well as external audiences. It also provides the candidate with a unique opportunity to work with senior professionals across the organization
The candidate will have direct exposure to all aspects of the M&A process, from the initial stages of assessing interest through deal announcement and legal close
The candidate will be expected to leverage sell-side research, regulatory & public disclosures, and alternative data sources in order to prepare extensive and detailed analyses of target opportunities and make appropriate recommendations to management
Other projects include performing ad hoc strategic analyses, detailed financial modeling and other industry research as needed
Evening and weekend work may be necessary to complete high priority projects
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the financial services industry
Strong presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills
Experience with business intelligence tools (tableau) is a plus
Desire to be part of a high performing / high visibility team
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
High motivation, strong work ethic, and an eagerness to learn
Familiarity with financial statements of financial services businesses, including an understanding of industry KPIs & valuation metrics
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, data visualization, sensitivity analysis, proficiency with nested formulas) and PowerPoint (creation and formatting)
Demonstrated experience balancing multiple tasks / projects with the ability to meet critical deadlines
