DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Purpose of the job (Accountabilities) include but are not limited to:

Responsible for overseeing the development, preparation, and maintenance of production plans to guide manufacturing activities and resources to achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives.

Accountable for monitoring & controlling production capacity and inventory to ensure customer demand is met within required timeframes. Key outputs are:  * An effective communication of the factory load plan  * Capacity availability by flow path to align lead time offering with Sales strategy.  * Signals to align inventory with Customer service objectives and financial objectives.

Reporting to Director, Operations, provides tactical planning information and support, guidance on likely master capacity requirements, and aggregated machine loading.

Working closely with the Sales team and Sourcing, the planning manager supports medium- and long-term forecasts (Annual budgets and quarterly / monthly targets).

Key metrics for the planning team are on time delivery in full, Working Capital alignment, achievable manufacturing plans, revenue and gross margin.

Leadership, management, training and development of team members to build a strong, capable and flexible organization. Ensuring all staff receive performance assessment and development to ensure they engage with the goals of the site, develop a continuous improvement culture and provide adequate competence to deliver good performance.

Protect the safety of our staff and other stakeholders by ensuring that all employees comply with safety processes and procedures. Communicate the expected safety standards to all employees and challenge those who fail to align. Identify opportunities for improvement through risk assessment, near miss reporting and incident investigation. Primary measures of safety performance are Lost time rate, Incident rate, first aid case rate and near miss rate.

Minimize environmental impacts to the site by following processes, procedures and policies.

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Providing the leadership to engage all employees in the safety strategy and develop a zero-incident culture. * Balancing the flow through Production to ensure the most effective use of production resources. * Working with Production to balance labor requirements in meeting planned output levels. * Makes recommendations for future labor and equipment needs. * Managing inventory and work in process within agreed company targets. * Managing material schedules to minimize inventory whilst maintaining availability. * Regular reporting of performance against input, output and inventory targets. * Support to the customer service team in lead times, progress and contract plans. * Developing staff to reach their maximum potential through a robust implementation of a review process. * Ensuring the all legal compliance standards are maintained. * Participate in the operations management team and continuous improvement initiatives as directed.

Qualifications and functional knowledge * A technical degree or significant previous experience within a Production Planning environment and in managerial positions. * Exceptional communication skills and ability to work across the organization. * Ability to work in a fast changing, sometimes ambiguous environment * Experience with IBS ERP systems and MANTIS or similar workflow systems is a plus. * Good operations knowledge of PC applications. [Typically Microsoft office suite] * Knowledge of lean manufacturing, contract management or account management an advantage. * Working knowledge of DPAS and its impact on scheduling. * Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred. * Ability to make sound decisions when faced with conflicting priorities and esc late as appropriate. * Knowledge of business * Experience of budgetary control and planning. * Understanding of the impact of Planning and Operations Management (SIOP) on the organizational financial objectives.
