Cleveland Clinic Materials Management Technician I, Service Center in Cleveland, Ohio

This position supports the Main Campus Service Center. Under the direction of the Supervisor (or Work Leader), delivers product using automated Guide Vehicle (AGV) system. Receives/reconciles items at the receiving dock, stocks, issues storeroom stock supplies using the installed warehouse management. Stocks supplies on hospital floors, hospital ORs, and various clinical areas with storeroom supplies.
Shift & Schedule: 6AM-2:30PM Monday-Friday
Monitors the flow of traffic into dock areas, prioritizing deliveries to ensure the safe receipt of goods and supplies.
Uploads freight, supplies, packages, and perishable items from dock facilities using materials handling equipment.
Verifies accuracy of shipments, checks for damage to goods and documents variances of orders, resolves incomplete deliveries and other related problems with purchasing and accounting.
Prepares goods and supplies for distribution, prioritizing deliveries, sorting and labeling loads ensuring the safe, correct and timely delivery of orders.
Properly packs and determines method of shipment to assure timely delivery of goods for outbound shipments.
Receives storeroom stock items from shipping and receiving area; unpacks and inspects items for damage; verifies accuracy of shipment and inputs information in the warehouse management system.
Stocks picking locations using warehouse management system, either manually or utilizing materials handling equipment according to identifying information; size, style, and numbers, ensuring the safe movement of materials.
Performs physical count of stock for inventory control verification and rotates stock to minimize loss of materials.
Surveys, fills, and stocks Nursing floors and clinical areas to maintain Par Level/Automatic Stocking Systems.
Communicates with Nurse Managers and Department designees to fulfill areas stocking needs and anticipates future needs.
Delivers items using necessary equipment to appropriate hospital nursing stations, unloads and unpacks cases and stocks designated storage areas with supplies.
Delivers supplies, packages, linen, and food from AGV Depots. Where appropriate, obtains signature verification that supplies were received.
Responds to inquiries related to materials in stock, ordering procedures, status of item, resolves discrepancies or requisitions or filled orders.
Handles rush storeroom orders.
Maintains cleanliness of storeroom area; collects pallets from area and stacks for pick up.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic knowledge of mathematics sufficient to add and subtract as required to maintain accurate logs.
Knowledge of computer systems including bar code readers, handheld computers, and printers.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must pass the Service Center certification training program for the operation of material handling power equipment and maintain the certification through periodic reviews.
This certification must be obtained during the 90 day new hire period.
One year of experience, preferably in a warehouse, manufacturing, or assembly environment.
Requires three months on-the-job training to learn locations of clinic desks, departments, delivery routes and proper operation of equipment.
Ability to read, write, speak English and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to operate materials handling equipment.
Must be self-motivated and be willing to work at a rapid pace.
Must be able to use touchscreen computers.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting items that weigh up to 80 pounds.
Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 800 pounds, and pull a 2500 pound pallet using a manual pallet jack.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Lifts and carries.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
