State of Massachusetts Senior O365 Engineer in Chelsea, Massachusetts
The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the state’s lead office for information technology. We provide enterprise level information technology services including network management and security; computer operations; application hosting; desktop provisioning and management; and modern and responsive digital services to 40,000 internal stakeholders plus the residents, business owners and visitors to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. EOTSS *is seeking to hire a *Senior Office 365 Engineer to join the Messaging & Directory Services team. The Messaging & Directory Services team is responsible for supporting the Commonwealth with all Office 365 applications, active directory, and Proofpoint E-Mail Hygiene appliances. The Senior Office 365 Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and architecture level support to the Enterprise Messaging and E-mail Gateway environment and respective supporting technologies. The primary work location for this role will be 200 Arlington Street, Chelsea, 02150. *The work schedule for this position is *Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm EST. This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as needed. This role may be expected to perform after hours support as authorized and required, including an on-call rotation cycle. Duties and Responsibilities: * Design, deploy, and support the enterprise Messaging and Directory Services environment that is comprised of a multi-domain Active Directory Forest, AAD Connect, Microsoft Exchange Hybrid on premise servers as they relate to Office365, Proofpoint E-Mail Hygiene appliances, and List server. * Perform upgrades for the systems mentioned above and lead the on-going evaluation of the environment for optimal performance. * Write Power Shell Scripts for reporting, licensing, and troubleshooting Office365, Exchange, & SharePoint on premise. * Configure Office365 Purview to ensure agency data is secured from view by other agencies and configure Office365 Retention and DLP Policies. * Creation of SharePoint Site Collections and ODFB account for agencies moving to Office365. * Identify technology enhancements that would improve features offering and systems configuration. * Pro-actively participate in escalated issue resolution for the systems mentioned above. * Monitor and respond to issues or service requests reported to the Support Desk and create and resolve problem tickets for service issues (in ServiceNow). * Provide clear, concise, and customized documentation that is appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences. * Work on assigned projects and complete within timetable established by project leader. * Assist management in the ongoing effort to streamline systems support and reduce operational costs. * Adhere to technical policies, standards and best practices set forth by ITD management. * Proactively identify and successfully troubleshoot technical issues in a timely manner, provide leadership in problem resolution, and provide progress report to customers and management. Properly document all work done during troubleshooting and resolution. * Monitor environment availability. * Assist in developing, testing, documenting, and implementing disaster recovery procedures for the Directory and Messaging environment. * Occasional travel to professional seminars and conferences (less than 5%). * Local travel is required between Chelsea and Boston (less than 5%). * Required travel for disaster recovery testing or in the event of a declared disaster at the Data Center (less than 5%). Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * * Three (3) years of experience working with all aspects of Office365 including but not limited to (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, TEAMS). Global Administrator for a large scale Office365 GCC environment (60,000 seats) is strongly preferred, but not required. * Five (5) years of hands-on experience with Active Directory, AD sites, replication, subnets, trusts, group policies, DNS, PKI, and multi-child domain multi-forest trusts in a large enterprise environment (60,000 seats). * Five (5) years of experience implementing successful Security models to large scale Windows, Exchange Hybrid, and Active Directory environments. * Experience with tools used for diagnosing and resolving Windows/Active Directory and Messaging related issues such as: PING, NSLOOKUP, Netstat, TCPView, NetMon, PerfMon, Microsoft Baseline Analyzer, Ethereal, LDP, WinRoute, ISinteg, MDBView, TCPDump, and Windows network monitoring tools. * Experience with Proofpoint anti-SPAM appliances, LDAP, or similar directory synchronization anti-Spam products a plus, but not required. * Experience with tools used for diagnosing and resolving AD/Exchange problems. * Strong troubleshooting ability of complex technical issues. * Working knowledge on how to create and implement SSL certificates. * Hands-on Architecture background in Microsoft Exchange server is a plus, but not required. * Possess a willingness to learn new technologies and share information. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent documentation skills, and strong organization skills. * Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent customer relationship skills, and possess the ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust, confidence, and respect. * Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision or within a team. *First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have (A) at least three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional or practical experience in the field of information technology application development and support, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. An Associate’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. II. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. III.
