The University of Virginia's (UVA) Department of Human Resources is currently seeking two Recruiters to join their team. Recruiters are a vital role designed to provide best in class recruitment services to support the many programs and initiatives of The University of Virginia. Recruiters will create an environment of trust with hiring managers, faculty, and candidates, while providing a consistent level of service and appropriate sourcing for open positions.

These are new roles to support the growing needs at UVA. The incumbents will report to the Manager of Academic Talent Recruitment and will not have direct reports.

The successful candidates will thrive in a team environment but will have the ability to successfully navigate an autonomous role. Recruiters are responsible for drafting and executing a search strategy, posting and advertising vacant positions, assisting with the interview process, negotiating and delivering verbal offers, and ultimately formally extending offer letters.  The Talent Recruitment team recruits for faculty, staff, and research positions throughout the University to build our talent pipeline with a diverse candidate pool of top talent. This includes identifying, sourcing, and attracting top talent by utilizing creative sourcing techniques for both active and passive candidates. Recruiters partner and collaborate with hiring managers to create customized job descriptions, share insight on the talent market with hiring managers, serve as a liaison with hiring managers and candidates, to streamline the recruitment process. Responsibilities will include screening resumes for minimum qualifications and assisting managers as needed with Workday, UVA’s Applicant Tracking System. The incumbents will manage the full life cycle recruiting process for candidates, to ensure they have a positive experience.

Recruiters must be able to conduct activities and make decisions according to ethical standards and provide hiring managers with best practices for increasing diversity and inclusion and advice on HR best practices as it relates to Talent Recruitment. Responsibilities include maintaining reports, data, metrics and/or KPIs to leaders within UVA; and a proven ability to analyze and present information and maintain accurate and detailed records is required. The ability to clearly articulate complex, specific information in the area of subject matter expertise and to advise other professionals on policy and procedures is essential.  Recruiters serve as a liaison between the Schools, UVA HR, and Provost on faculty and staff matters; and use partnering skills to build and foster working relationships with hiring managers, HR Business Partners, external partners, and organizational leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma

  • At least one year of relevant HR/Recruiting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience working with faculty searches, faculty affairs, human resources, or staff development in a higher education setting.

  • Experience with Workday or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)

These positions are currently remote due to Covid-19 protocols but would be reevaluated when it is deemed appropriate to return to Grounds.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
