University of Virginia Assistant of Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking a tenure-ineligible Assistant or Associate Professor to join its clinical faculty within the Behavioral Medicine Center. Primary responsibilities will include providing outpatient, empirically-based psychological services (e.g., diagnostic assessment and intervention) to individuals diagnosed with a wide variety of medical and psychiatric disorders.

Depending on the applicant’s areas of expertise, opportunities may exist to work with diverse patient populations from multiple clinical services, including but not limited to, bariatric surgery, sleep medicine, pain management, adult neurology, oncology, and transplant. The remaining time will be spent in the training/supervision of psychology fellows, practicum students, and/or psychiatry residents, and/or on extramural/intramural funded research projects, as well as other clinical trials, conducted in the Behavioral Medicine Research Center or other clinical locations.

Candidates must have a PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program. Post-doctoral experience in Health Psychology is preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience providing empirically-based psychological interventions with medical populations, consulting with medical staff, and performing medically-specialized psychological evaluations. Candidates must be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must be licensed by date of hire.

This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with SOM Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
