Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to manage the implementation of the sustainability at work program globally for a large Global Finance company. The Global SaW (Sustainability at Work) Leader will be responsible for managing all aspects of assigned programs including budget, schedule and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technology -Accountable for development, rollout, and provision of ongoing support for the SaW technology platform. Liaise with the client’s business leaders, and corporate services stakeholders to continually understand needs, leverage VoC to drive continuous improvement in platform functionality. Liaise with CBRE Analytics team to ensure CBRE platforms are correctly implemented and their capabilities are fully leveraged.

  • Training -Responsible for ensuring all SaW team members adhere to The client’s/CBRE continuing education requirements and stay abreast of professional developments. Develop, implement, and maintain a globally consistent continuing education program to ensure all CBRE account team members have a deep understanding of the client’s SaW program, and specific expectations for their roles in supporting it.

  • Partner with the client to create and implement a training program for the clients’ Employees globally articulating the key pillars of SaW, expectations of their participation, and explanations of key initiatives such as Energy, Single Use Plastics, Landfill Diversion, Paper and Design/Construction. Deploy, monitor and update as necessary.

  • Communications -Accountable for development and ongoing support of The client’s internal and external communication of targets and performance.

  • Accountable for ensuring team members develop content which will help users understand what the firm is doing, has done, and will be doing with respect to operational sustainability. Review and provide oversight for all SaW educational content and materials generated by SaW team members.

  • Ensure that SaW educational content is posted to MS Today, Jive, and other platforms as directed.

  • Accountable for daily coordination between CBRE’s global team, landlords, and The client to articulate an ongoing message of progress towards SaW objectives. Ensure all SaW inquiries are handled professionally and thoroughly.

  • Reduce Landfill, Recycle More, Reduce Paper, Conserve Water, Save Energy -Partner with The client in development and refinement of ongoing strategy to meet global resource efficiency targets. Annually develop a global roadmap for target achievements, and present to The client for approval. Oversee implementation globally.

  • Accountable for overseeing the implementation of operational sustainability initiatives regionally as expected by The client per the annual global roadmap. Ensure that single use plastics, energy, waste and water conservation opportunities are identified, developed, and recommended for implementation in a globally harmonized manner and in accordance with approved global strategy. Manage global Integration Manager team to ensure target delivery. As required provide validation of savings via IPMVP approved M&V methodology.

  • Provide SaW progress reports to CBRE and The client leadership as requested.

  • Responsible for ongoing engagement with global CBRE account leaders across all The client’s service lines to ensure alignment with SaW global strategy. Seek and incorporate feedback from The client to ensure FM teams and suppliers successfully drive resource efficiency improvements.

  • SOPs/MOPs -Partner with The client to create global standard operating procedures (incorporating regional requirements as necessary) that promote operational sustainability objectives such as energy conservation and improved waste diversion. Work in partnership with The client to obtain requisite business approvals for implementation. Accountable for overseeing global implementation of approved SOPs/MOPs.

  • Budgeting/Forecasting -Responsible for the annual development and submittal of the global energy budget to The client. Coordinate with CBRE regional leaders in SaW, FM, Finance and other disciplines as appropriate to monitor budget variances, with accountability for ensuring meaningful variance explanations are provided on an monthly basis. Track savings (or cost increases) at the global level.

  • Reporting -Responsible for delivering all global reporting against SaW objectives, including the global integration of the SaW technology platform into the GHG inventory management and annual disclosure process.

  • Carbon Inventory -Accountable for the ongoing management of The client’s global GHG inventory, assuring the accuracy of all data, regular maintenance of the inventory, and identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance the quality and speed with which GHG data is collected.

  • Responsible for compliance with CBRE SLA’s pertaining to utility bill pay, energy management, and SaW under CBRE’s MSA with The client.

  • Responsible for strategic design and timely delivery of all planned SaW programs and initiatives globally, within budget and in accordance with The client’s expectations.

  • Leasing -Accountable for creating a global green leasing imperative and ensuing green leasing standards. Coordinate with The client SaW leaders for approval and provision of subsequent regional implementation as appropriate.

  • Ensure appropriate regional integration management team members provide input into meaningful lease negotiations such that green leasing standards are incorporated as appropriate.

  • Ensure global CBRE transaction team members understand green leasing requirements.

  • Procurement -Accountable for the creation and continual improvement of a global sustainable sourcing strategy in line with SaW’s source wisely commitments. Ensure inclusion of supplier code of conduct in all major CBRE led sourcing initiatives.

  • Coordinate with The client business leaders and stakeholders to ensure CBRE led sourcing initiatives meet global sustainability expectations.

  • Responsible for creating global sustainable sourcing policies & managing regional implementation as required.

  • Coordinate with CBRE’s energy procurement team to ensure energy procurement decisions support client commitments to green energy.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Development of evergreen SaW global strategy plans as required to ensure over achievement of public objectives.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key client personnel in order to understand and respond to The client’s needs.

  • Understands and utilizes GWS and APEX platform resources as required to ensure SaW program success.

  • Develops and implements Operational Performance Indicators (OPI’S) in partnership with The client to measure success, monitors program status and makes adjustments to the execution plan to ensure a successful outcome. Ensures integration of SaW OPI’s into global Vantage Reporting.

  • Provides accurate, timely, and complete reports on project performance.

  • Makes presentations to client management team on program design, status and results.

  • Works with client and GWS resources on the development of materials for training, promotion and communication of programs.

  • Manages all CBRE SaW resources globally.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises all SaW staff globally, and provides leadership to program teams. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the companys values.

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree (BS) in Engineering, and or MBA and a minimum of ten years of related experience, preferably 15.

Certificates and/or Licenses

Professional Engineer (PE) license and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation preferred.

Communication Skills

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret business documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, business cases. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups.

Financial Knowledge

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to analyze business/financial data and develop innovative solutions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Other Skills and/OR Abilities

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and intranet/internet.

Working knowledge and understanding of architectural, electrical and mechanical systems.
