Responsible for testing products and services utilized by Nelnet Payment

Services (NPS) that produce quality results, prevent/mitigate defects and achieve business

objectives that support client requirements. The primary focus will be on backend functionality

testing, including (but not limited to) API services and database validations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Acquires information from Product Owners and Business Analysts, defining acceptance criteria necessary for testing

  2. Creates test plans detailing test cases/steps that achieve acceptance criteria and project objectives (including any pre-requisites, test data, system/code dependencies, etc)

  3. Execute project testing, including data validation testing to ensure result accuracy

  4. Evaluate and report test progress, defects and product/service quality

  5. Solution-oriented attitude, providing succinct overview of issue/s and suggestions for resolution or improvements

  6. Assist with identifying candidates for regression / automation test suite

  7. Intrinsically motivated to build knowledge and experience learning the NPS products, services, testing framework and testing tools used by team

  8. Responsive and respectful to guidance provided within continued development/learning opportunities.

  9. Ability to adapt to expedited changes or requirements that may redirect testing focus/assignments mid-Sprint

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. 3+ years' experience with NBS products or similar position at another company.

  2. Minimum 1 – 2 years related Testing experience

  3. Knowledge of STLC principles and industry best practices/standards

  4. ISTQB certification (helpful, but not required)

  5. Experience with test framework and automation testing tools used by the team (or similar at another company).

o Database: MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres

o API: Postman (or similar)

o TestRail (or similar)

o BeyondCompare (or similar)

o Playwright (helpful, but not required)

o GoAnywhere OpenPGP (helpful, but not required)

o WinSCP (helpful, but not required)
