Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as the corporate subject matter expert for real estate matters across the designated lines of business.

  • Partner with other members of the second line of defense and designated lines of business to identify risks, develop and execute assessments, provide guidance on control and testing design and execution, and advise on and monitor findings and associated remediation activities.

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of line of business processes and controls.

  • Proactively identify process improvements or control gaps and facilitate necessary associated changes.

  • Research, interpret and assist in applying laws, regulations and regulatory guidance to relevant business processes.

  • Assist in the identification of training opportunities and course development.

  • Address regulatory actions and other regulatory communications, following up and monitoring until satisfactory resolution is obtained.

  • Assist with corporate policy and training development.

  • Educate and provide consultative advice on assigned regulations.

  • Provide independent review and challenge on various line of business activities.

  • Participate in or lead various projects related to mitigating risk to Key.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal clients, staff, peers, and senior management.

  • Identify, respond to and/or escalate risks as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree required; substantial industry experience may be substituted for a Bachelor s Degree; Juris Doctorate or CRCM preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience as a financial services compliance professional, bank regulator or other comparable legal experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of real estate related regulations or guidance as well as the related rules and regulations of the financial services industry to include: OCC, FDIC, FRB, CFPB, state law and other pertinent laws for First Mortgage and Home Equity loans and lines.

  • In-depth practical knowledge of internal controls, risk assessments and compliance processes, and applicable techniques for implementation of regulatory, compliance and legal requirements and compliance processes

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and analyze federal and state real estate related laws to assist the designated line of business in assessing risk.

  • Strong relationship management and leadership skills coupled with a proven ability to work in a team environment

  • Candidate must possess the ambition and flexibility to undertake new functions/tasks as Compliance Risk and the line of business evolves and grows.

  • Sound decision-making skills; ability to make decisions independently and quickly.

  • Detail oriented with solid written and oral communication skills.

  • Sound understanding of compliance risks.

  • Strong research skills coupled with strong problem solving/analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to address multiple deadlines and priorities.
