Provides insightful and energized leadership and management of the day-to-day operations of St. Joseph Manor, a traditional nursing home care facility in Bryan to ensure first-class care to all Manor guests. Advances organizational awareness and compliance with elements of mission integration. Serves as a resource to the Executive Team and Board to provide perspective on SJHS`s performance and the long-term care implications of alternative business strategiesCoordinates Performance Improvement activities for LTC facilities to ensure quality of care initiatives. Coordinates and implements initiatives to manage compliance with CMS, TDADS, and Joint Commission regulations. Performs chart and facility reviews. Communicates with medical staff, VP of Post-Acute, and Quality as directed on metrics. Completes necessary board quality reports. Assists facility Directors with survey and completion effective of Plans of Correction. Participates in QAPI meetings and PI initiatives at each facility and as needed within SJHS. Oversight of Infection Control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Joseph Manor Leadership. Serves as the operating head for St. Joseph Manor with management responsibilities for all financial and people resources to guarantee that all Manor resources are maximized to the benefit of SJHS. Directs, reviews and supports Manor employees. Conducts regular rounds to monitor cleanliness and appearance of facility, morale of staff and to ensure resident needs are being addressed. Manages the building and grounds and ensures that equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly and/or any hazardous conditions are addressed. Ensures infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices are followed to maintain compliance.

  • Designs, supports, and coordinates Performance Improvement activities including but not limited to staff education, staff training, and IP Committee coordination to ensure superb quality of care and create an environment where the focus is on the resident and all staff deliver best-in-class care.

  • Serves as a mentor for new LTC team members to improve staff to a desired level of performance.

  • Monitors compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations, licensure, standards of participation in Medicare and Medicaid, and SJHS policies. Maintains satisfactory levels on state and federal surveys. Maintains ongoing compliance with organizational accreditation standards (i.e. Joint Commission, CAP, ACS) in assigned operational and administrative areas. Develops and implements long-term care and nursing home related educational programs for SJHS management to ensure superb quality care, continuously improving resident satisfaction, maximum occupancy and profitable operations.

  • Serves on hospital and community committees and project teams as required to promote LTC as a quality, professional services organization.

  • Participates in Value Stream Analysis and Rapid Improvement Events as needed.

  • Coordinates project for web-based scorecard processes.

  • Coordinates and oversees Facility and Nurse Leadership in LTC. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development policies, data collection, quality measures, and staff education.

  • Maintains current knowledge of LTC regulations via literature review, conferences, and best-practice standards to ensure compliance for Joint Commission and State Regulations.

  • Participates in the development summaries and reports as requested by Administration and maintains accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with Joint Commission and State Regulatory Agents.

  • Creates and maintains policies, procedures, and protocols for LTC.

  • Employee Development. Recruits and motivates a first rate team at the Manor whose breadth and depth will accommodate SJHS`s growth to fit with the needs of SJHS's growth strategy and the needs of the community. Develops volunteers to augment employed staff and creates an environment that is conducive to those willing to volunteer their time in support of the hospital's mission. Promotes system thinking and drives accountability for operational and financial success down into the organization. Advances employee satisfaction and morale by listening and empowering. In-service education and on-the-job training opportunities are given to develop individual and group competencies.

  • Financial Management. Responsible for the profitability of the facility. Manages accounts payable and accounts receivable. Manages direct expenses utilized in assigned areas relative to budget and resident volume. Prepares capital and operating budgets for assigned areas of responsibility to reflect an increase in value for the patients/residents served.

  • Medical Staff and Community Relations. Routinely supports and participates in SJHS-sponsored educational, communication, outreach and social activities; SJHS-sponsored community benefit activities and SJHS fund development events to promote SJHS as a worthy employer and community steward. Works with administration of Texas A&M to address issues related to the proximity of so many students. Contributes material to SJHS newsletters, as appropriate. Partner with medical staff to ensure good communications, strong and mutually beneficial relationships, and an ongoing assessment of the clinical and business needs of both parties.

  • Strategic Planning and Marketing. Works with community leaders, Board and SJHS administration to identify needs and opportunities in the local area and how the Manor can be positioned to optimally serve both the community and SJHS. Plays a leadership role in carrying out the strategy and marketing plans. Develops and implements a marketing strategy that reflects service opportunities to maximize the census, payor mix and ancillary revenues.

  • Counseling with Families. Meets with families to discuss care issues, treatment processes and therapy options. Educates families on the different levels of care (e.g., assisted living, nursing home, rehabilitation hospital). Counsels families/caregivers on why their loved ones are deteriorating, what to expect and how to best deal with the change to help families/caregivers feel more comfortable in any situation.

  • Executive Team Leadership. Provides support to senior executives and the Board(s), serving as a sounding board on new strategies or ideas to provide insight and considerations associated with different approaches or alternatives. As a key member of the senior executive team, participates in SJHS brainstorming strategic planning and decision-making efforts, to support SJHS initiatives on corporate integrity, and quality efforts.

Qualifications

Required Education, Licensure and Experience:

  • Required: Associates Degree

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

  • LNFA license required

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Required: Ability to work independently. Microsoft word and excel, excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving and analytical skills, Power Point, web tools, organization, able to multitask and meet deadlines . A minimum of 2-5 years LTC experience
