Employeewill receive on-the-job training.WAGE: Depending on experiencePRIMARY JOB PURPOSE:Prepare daily menu items in accordance with local, state, and federal foodstandards, facility and department policies, and in accordance with theplanned menu, in the time allotted, to ensure thatresidents/staff/guests receive high quality, adequate and accurate foods.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Practice the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of employer. Review menus prior to preparation of food. Select food items from storageand prepare them for production. Produce hot and cold foods according to the menu, production plans,special diets and standardized recipes. Prepare food in accordance withplanned menus, standardized recipes and special diet orders. Maintain production records accurately and consistently, according toUnit Director's instruction. Handle, store, and provide food and supplies following safe foodhandling practices to prevent food-borne illness. Ensure that all food service policies and procedures, including HACCPprocedures, are followed. Follow established safety, security, andsanitation practices. Display and serve hot and cold foods in an appropriate and attractivemanner in accordance with established portion control procedures. Store food products and leftovers following established sanitary and safetyguidelines. Maintain and care for department equipment and supplies. Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions whenperforming daily tasks. Work with the facility's clinical staff as necessary and implementchanges as required. Ensure diet cards are being followed. Receive and appropriately respond to oral and written communications anddirections. Create and maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the department andfacility. Identify customer requirements, seek customer feedback, and meetcustomer expectations on a timely basis. Complete daily cleaning tasks and initial and date completed work. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care informationaccording to HIPPA regulations to assure resident rights are protected. Maintain punctuality when reporting to work and leaving work. In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may includeother responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon needsor requirements.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent sensory perception; ability to distinguish differences intaste, smell, vision and hearing to evaluate the quality of food. Ability to manage time and resources effectively. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers Must demonstrate the willingness and ability to learn and perform allduties required by Dining Services. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all food servicepersonnel, as well as with other departments, residents within thefacility, and guests to assure that food service can be properly maintainedto meet the needs of the residents. Ability to think critically, be detail-oriented, work well withpeers, work under supervision, handle multiple interruptions, and workon multiple tasks throughout the day. Must be able to use initiative and judgment in maintaining assigned area ina clean and orderly condition. Must exhibit courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment ofresidents, families, and co-workers.
