  • Member of the indirect purchasing management team involved in development of strategic direction, long and short term goals, policies, programs and objectives

  • Provide overall guidance and support to launch and recovery teams to successfully execute contracted project deliverables and standard work

  • Develop and execute market leading sourcing strategy for launch and recovery teams via full market knowledge, supplier rationalization and industry leading pricing plan, and total cost ownership considered

  • Prepare, issue and analyze RFP packages for one-time projects and ongoing goods and services requirements for the SpaceX launch sites

  • Develop negotiation strategies and comprehensive supplier analysis for high cost spend commodities by leveraging should-cost models for competitive cost analysis

  • Understand market and industry positions, capabilities and capacity and risk assessment

  • Form internal teams to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development

  • Drive internal and external continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers

  • Ensure partners are prepared to support prototype builds with appropriate equipment, material to ensure a successful product development, ramping up and production

  • Develop, foster, manage, and maintain strong suppliers partnerships and have a supply base risk mitigation plan

  • Work autonomously and proactively to resolve a wide variety of supply chain issues in creative ways

  • Show initiative in developing new methods or processes to ensure the highest quality product and efficient methods utilized

  • Recommend and implement sourcing strategy based on variety of factors, including product, operational, strategic, and financial considerations

  • Analyze supplier performance, negotiate contracts, assess new supplier relationships, and consolidate supplier relationships as necessary

  • Issue purchase orders, ensure timely delivery and resolve invoice issues


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, finance, or other business discipline

  • 7+ years of experience in purchasing, supplier management, or contract negotiations, or a combination of these areas

  • 2+ years in a supervisory, lead or management role


  • 5+ years of contract negotiation experience

  • Ability to develop spend strategy and execute on a specific plan

  • Experience negotiating with Government entities

  • Experience managing multimillion dollar capital projects from a purchasing and strategic perspective

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and customer service skills

  • Remarkable problem solving skills

  • Strong technical knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications, especially MS Office Suite

  • Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment

  • Ability to conduct all activities with the highest of integrity

  • Experience performing forecasting and budgeting


  • Position may require long hours (10-12 hour days) and weekend work

  • Must be willing to travel as needed
