State of Massachusetts Business Front Door Director in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Office of Business Development is committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel respected, valued, and empowered to maximize their skills and talents to serve our citizens. _About the Role:_ The Business Front Door Director will assist with projects/initiatives, supporting the Commonwealth’s economic development goals and strategies, including a dedicated focus on the Business Front Door (BFD) process, a new streamlined process to better serve businesses and enable greater internal coordination across agencies. The Business Front Door Director is experienced and well versed in business growth strategies and handles the day-to-day operations of the new BFD initiative, working closely with partner agencies. Duties vary and may include assisting applicants and program managers, coordinating working group meetings, facilitating program events, and tracking and increasing overall efficiency of the process. _Duties and Responsibilites:_ *(these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): * Assist with the management of the Business Front Door initiative. Lead all aspects of the technology and process to administer the Business Front Door. Manage the forms and processes for both internal and external (business) users. * Serve as lead coordinator for the collaborative process amongst the partner agencies. Participate in interagency discussions related to how the Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) programs interact with, support, and catalyze investment from other agencies. * Schedule and assist with all Steering Committee and BFD process activities. Support the technical needs of the program including through the software management system. Maintain a master tracker(s) of information on all activities of the BFD. Maintain detailed and accurate records of the process. * Regular and direct interaction with businesses to provide technical assistance and support on utilizing the BFD system and other interactions as needed. Responsible for identifying and helping to resolve issues with technology, processes, and forms. Also responsible for reporting problems to, and seeking assistance/guidance from, appropriate senior staff. * Coordinate and support agency process and program managers in the review and maintenance of BFD forms and processes. * Prepare and submit timely reports and presentations in support of project development as well as project management as requested by supervisor. * Assist in developing briefs, summaries, presentations, and other office reports used for both internal and external communications. Includes data/info requests from Secretary, other EOED Executive staff, and/or the Governor’s office. * Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: * Knowledge of Salesforce Public Sector Solutions. * Experience or knowledge of private sector experience, public/private development as well as business and economic development initiatives. * Experience with project and/or contract management. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Interactive and relationship-building skills with an ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from governmental officials, the general public, consultants, and external stakeholders. * Experience working with various project constituencies, including government agencies, citizen and community groups, private sector business and nonprofit organizations. * Familiarity and/or knowledge of federal, state or local economic development programs, incentives and policy initiatives as well as governmental regulations regarding business development. * Ability to work independently and in a team-based project management environment. * Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Preferred candidate is enthusiastic, self-directed, creative problem-solver and passionate about business and economic development. * Must have strong computer skills in standard productivity software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Preferred candidate will have some experience with innovative technology, such as data tracking and CRM systems, economic development tools, GIS, etc. _ All applicants should attach a cover letter and resume to their online submission for this position._ MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience. II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience. IV.
