IBM System Manager in BANGALORE, India

Your Role and Responsibilities

The zOS Data Facility Storage Management Subsystem (DFSMS) for IBM Z is looking to hire experienced Software Developer (job role includes management and development on large systems) that are highly driven and technically prepared to join a world-class team which develops the most challenging and complex systems in the world.

We develop, test and support the data management portion of the z/OS operating system. Nearly 100% of all credit card transactions, 92% of the top 100 global banks, 90% of Fortune 500 companies, and 80% of the world’s corporate data depend on the IBM Z. For a half-century, the mainframe has transformed how we travel, enabled secure banking, improved how city agencies service citizens, and dramatically reduced traffic congestion. We develop leading-edge technologies in managing data, Cloud technologies, system solutions, and hardware enablement that power the most secure and reliable system on the planet

As a Systems Manager, you will primarily be responsible for end-to-end ownership of the product operation and usability including scheduled delivery and assurance with the highest quality ensuring customer satisfaction. You will also focus on bringing in efficiencies in the test methodologies, hiring and retaining highly talented engineers and working with peers and stakeholders to ensure IBM business continuity.

As a System Manager for Operating Systems software on IBM’s Cognitive Power server platform, you will

  • Manage highly talented engineers skilled in testing Operating Systems software and associated sub-systems around Virtualization, Networking, Storage, Memory, Processors, IO interfaces, etc.

  • As a People Manager, to have focus on Employee engagement, Growth, Skill building, Innovation and well-being

  • End to End responsibility of product delivery and release by applying Design Thinking & Agile practices in product testing and motivate the team in applying these practices and delivering great user experience and quality products for IBM’s Cognitive Power Systems

  • Ensure Business Compliance and Integrity is maintained across the team

  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to share/apply best practices at increasing efficiency

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 12+ years of IT experience with at least 2 years of management experience

  • Hands-on technical IT industry experience preferably in the area of Enterprise Server Operating System

  • Has led a technical team and been part of their talent & career development. Good problem solver – technical solutions as well as conflict resolution

  • Familiar with Enterprise Server Operating System testing (advantage if familiar with IBM Power Systems as a consumer or user)

  • Has worked in technical capacity on Unix/Linux Operating Systems software and some of the associated sub-systems around Virtualization, Networking, Storage, Memory, Processors, IO interfaces, etc. and familiar with platform machine/system architecture

  • Working knowledge of

  • Virtualization Software like KVM, Xen, VMware, Hypervisors, etc. (familiarity with PowerVM is added advantage)

  • Network Concepts (Ethernet, VLAN, Switch, etc.)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with DFSMS or zOS preferred.

  • Candidates having exposure to IBM Cognitive/ Power Systems are preferred
