Southwest Key Programs Data Architect in Austin, Texas
Southwest Key Programs (“SWK”) is seeking a Data Architect. This position will report directly to the AVP of Infrastructure. The Data Architect has many duties within the IT organization. They will support the CIO and AVPs on strategic and tactical initiatives. They will be involved with Data related strategy for the enterprise representing the Data and Analytics (D&A) team for the IT organization. Must be confident in designing and implementing a Data & Analytics environment (greenfield), this person should help with the strategy, design, implementation, and ownership.
The Data Architect is responsible for designing data infrastructure to extract and organize data for authorized individuals to access. Their duties include identifying a company’s internal and external data sources, collaborating with department heads to determine their data storage and organizational needs and using the information to create and maintain data infrastructure for the company. Ideally they have experience with Data Lake, Data Warehouses and Data Marts methodology. They must know how to pull data together from multiple sources. They must be familiar with multiple data toolsets and have facilitated data migrations. They will work closely with and support the Security Director on data classifications and policies. Working knowledge of Oracle databases; Oracle interface; SQL databases, SQL statement creation and associated best practices; API integrations, ETL and SSIS.
Excels at working with consultants and vendors/partners. Experience identifying opportunities in the company to use predictive analytics and designing and directing AI and ML solutions.
Builds and maintains an organization-wide view of data solutions with high-level visual schematic of key systems and business flows.
Oversees all design and implementation of feeds, data structures, reports, including analysis and documentation to ensure structured and effective implementations.
Works closely with the BSAs and Dev-Ops engineers on application data initiatives
Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodology
Builds relationships with Business teams and their Business analysts (BAs)
Ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms
Excellent attention to detail
Identifying installation solutions for new databases
Determining the requirements for a new database
Publishing and/or presenting design reports
Identifying areas for improvement in current systems
Coordinating with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines
Auditing database regularly to maintain quality
Working with and Advising Security team about how to keep data secure
The ability to analyze and present statistical information
Knowledge of specific types of databases, such as relational or foundational databases
Experience with database management software
Manages the delivery of exceptional customer service and communication in a fast-paced environment through Service tools (Service Now and MS Teams) phone, email and IM.
Ability to lead a team
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. This includes: interviewing; hiring and training; planning assigning and directing work; apprising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Regularly communicates work progress, team concerns and questions with the AVP of Infrastructure.
Job experience, qualifications, and abilities include the following:
Data Architect should have at least five years of experience in information technology.
They should have experience in the following areas:
Program and Project Management
Application Solution architecting
Data Attribute and Data Mapping
Experience managing teams locally and remote
The Data Architect is primarily Strategic but should be technical and occasionally hands on
Strong working knowledge of development platforms including Java and .Net; Databases including SQL and Oracle
Expertise in Microsoft Office suite
Ability to articulate ideas to all levels of management and technical staff.
Must be comfortable communicating with senior levels of management of the company
Experience in incident management, problem management, change management and service requests
Expert documentation skills
Understands complex applications functionality (ERP systems), triage issues and displays competent problem solving skills
Ability to partner with leadership team, peers, vendors, and subordinates to develop and enhance reporting capabilities in order to provide a suite of reports/dashboards ensuring customer needs are met
ITIL methodology a Plus
Agile and Scrum methodologies
Fluent in English, oral and written required
Ability to work on evenings and weekends and adjust your schedule to meet business needs.
Manage and update data documentation (ideally proficient in Service Now)
Coordinate data relationship matrix across all service portfolios, in collaboration with other IT departments Maintain the Data portfolio with clear definition of data in Production, Pre-Prod, Test and Development.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of workstation and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending, and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
