People's Community Clinic Controller in Austin, Texas

The Controller supports the mission of People's Community Clinic by assisting the CFO in managing the organization’s fiscal functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. All PCC employees are expected to identify opportunities to improve workflow, work processes and patient care and to work cooperatively to implement those improvements.

  • Supervise Finance staff, including hiring, training and evaluation of performance.

  • Coordinate the work activities of the Finance team and monitor and verify their work output.

  • Lead Finance team in continual process improvements across their roles and responsibilities for PCC.

  • Assist the CFO with the annual budget process.

  • Train staff on financial budgetary policies and procedures.

  • Produce accurate and complete monthly and annual financial statements, all related reports and ongoing special project updates.

  • Serve as the liaison and contact with funding entities on financial performance.

  • Oversee the coordination of budgets and any updated financial information required for funders and the development department.

  • Lead the annual financial audit, identifying concerns and issues timely.

  • Lead the annual 403(b) audit, identifying concerns and issues timely.

  • Coordinate with accounting firm to prepare annual Form 990.

  • Audit Financial Policy manual annually to ensure adherence and recommend updates to policies as required.

  • Oversee the maintenance of cash flow and investments.

  • Assist in coordinating all requirements to meet FQHC rules, regulations, metrics and reporting.

  • Keep current on rules and regulations of Clinic funding sources for appropriate financial administration of grants and contracts.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

Experiance:

  • At least 8 years related experience in progressively more responsible positions, including some nonprofit experience

  • At least five years supervisory experience

  • Experience working at an FQHC desirable

  • Experience leading an audit

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of financial reporting methods and practices

  • Knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting principles and procedures

  • Highest level of character and integrity, combined with a strong sense of fiduciary duty

  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting complex activities/information in order to refine and improve work outputs

  • Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment and achieve goals with minimal supervision

  • Ability to interact successfully with people of diverse backgrounds

Certificate/License: CPA preferred
