Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Survey Technician to join our team. This is a remote position, but the candidate must be available during typical Eastern Time Zone business hours (8a-5p). We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and teambuilding skills, who feels comfortable with a dynamic workflow.

By leveraging your existing skills in land surveying, you will help develop the expansion of North America's railroad network by assisting Class I and Class II railroads manage their real estate assets. We perform a variety of surveying tasks, including ALTA Surveys, forensic surveying, deed research, mapping, and assisting with environmental tasks.

As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Surveyors, Engineers, Senior Scientists, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects. Having the ability to clearly and simply communicate with those having limited understanding of land surveying provides you with the opportunity to be a niche expert for other Arcadians.

Your responsibilities will include but aren't limited to: Leverage a strong understanding of surveying mathematics, data adjustments, property boundaries, surface modeling, analyzing the quality of data, and processing of field data, including GPS. Produce detailed and attractive exhibits, plats, and maps using strong CAD production skills, with a keen eye toward quality control and accuracy. Read and analyze legal descriptions and write accurate metes and bounds descriptions. Exercise your investigative skills performing deed research online. Tackle interesting questions and problems using your analytical, problem solving, and multitasking skills. Collaborate with other Arcadians as an active and engaged team player who will respond positively and enthusiastically to training to stay current with technology. Take pride in the experience your career has brought you through pursuing accreditation (such as Certified Survey Technician, Land Survey Intern, etc.).

In summary, the ideal candidate will have land survey experience and be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and field-to-finish data processing. A focus on health and safety, as well as strong skills in remote collaboration using tools like OneDrive, SharePoint, and BIM 360, is essential. While knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer is attractive but not necessary, a willingness to occasionally travel overnight for short periods (2-4 days) is also preferred. These attributes will enable you to excel in a collaborative team environment, contribute to projects, and build a long-term career path.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required Qualifications High School Diploma required. 2 years' experience as a Land Survey Technician. 2 years' experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.

Preferred Qualifications Active and current certificate with NSPS for Certified Survey Technician Level III - Office, or willingness to pursue. Experience with surveying for railroad or transportation needs. Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer. Experience with ArcGIS.
