Fortna Director, Project Management Office (PMO) in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Descriptions:

The Director, PMO develops and implements PMO processes and policies, directs project management staff, and works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs. They lead Fortna’s program management practice with a strategic focus on standards and governance through our delivery methodology globally. They work strategically to create best practice standards for implementations and put a focus on governance and adherence.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead the analysis, selection and roll-out of PMO tools to enable integrated delivery models

  • Lead execution of Project/Site Management best practices for global implementation projects

  • Provide the needed training to drive transformation and ensure long-term adoption

  • Lead Governance by tracking, auditing, and reviewing Project/Site Management processes

  • Lead continuous improvement and establish review cycle to evaluate these best practices globally

  • Lead internal initiatives to create seamless execution between the various practices in operations

  • Own the logistics plan for stage-gate decision processes and core team meetings

  • Enable executive leadership, stakeholders, and team to see and buy-in to the vision of the PMO

  • Position PMO as a key resource within the organization solves business challenges for stakeholders

  • Serve as a change management catalyst and partner within the organization

  • Serve as a go-to resource for the team, removing roadblocks, and creating a bridge between executive leadership and the rest of the organization

  • Facilitates collaboration across multiple functions and regions within the company

  • Establishes project and change management standards and optimizes project management lifecycle/toll gates within the organization

  • Develops/rolls out roadmap for PMO's structure, governance, and execution support across Fortna

  • Prioritizes consistency of project management processes and tools

  • Identifies success measures to gauge PMO performance, project health check and maintains a project portfolio view for reporting

  • Holds project and site managers accountable for successful project delivery based on the organization's defined processes

  • Holds partnering stakeholders accountable for following project lifecycle, toll-gate requirements, and cross-functional transitions based on the firm's defined processes

  • Oversees the creation of project management career development and learning paths for team

  • Develops a mentorship mechanism to coach and groom team

  • Guides organization in successful implementation and adoption of the selected PPM tool

  • Oversees resource utilization/capacity management, overall reporting/communication, and process standardization and optimization

  • Helps the organization with prioritization of projects based on strategic priorities/execution capacities

  • Continually seek avenues to strategically and tactically improve team productivity/efficiency

  • Regularly communicate both up and down stream while coaching and developing other

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • 7+ years of experience in project management and or program management

  • Expert business acumen competencies, demonstrating extensive understanding and advanced skills

  • Proven experience in establishing KPIs and performing governance within projects

  • Experience managing both indirectly and directly across multiple work-streams and projects

  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse, global teams remotely

  • Leads by example through developing broad project leadership that effectively assigns responsibilities and set clear expectations while assuring a high level of understanding

  • Highly advanced listening, verbal, and written communication competencies, and skills with extensive demonstrated application of the skills

  • Highly advanced complex problem-solving skills

  • Highly advanced skills developing/managing budgets across multiple projects and work streams

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with on-time and on-budget metrics

  • Exceptional time management competencies demonstrated through extensive experience both delivering and managing others in the delivery of highly complex programs and projects

  • Highly advanced presentation development and delivery skills

  • Highly advanced Client management and project leadership skills, demonstrated through extensive consultative experience and knowledge

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project & Visio)

  • Travel: Ability to travel nationally up to 40%

  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or related degree is a plus

  • Extensive experience with Supply Chain/Material Handling is a plus
