As an EHS Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of a manufacturing facility in Athens, GA and a distribution facility in Jefferson, GA. The position is mainly on first shift but may require shift flexibility depending on the need. Some travel may also be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support managers in conducting risk assessments, incident investigation, root cause analysis across all areas of the organization

  • Maintain appropriate EHS records and reports

  • Participate and lead EHS inspections and internal EHS audits

  • Lead EHS development projects

  • Assist with maintaining environmental permits (air, waste, water)

  • Coordinate and facilitate EHS training as necessary including new hire orientation, forklift operation, fall protection, lockout tag-out etc.

  • Sustain and continuously improve the EH&S management system at the facility.

  • Ensure compliance with safety related programs covered under 29 CFR 1910 OSHA regulations that include: HAZCOM, confined space, industrial hygiene, PPE, emergency action planning, among many others.

  • Collect, analyze and report EHS data and findings to the business

  • Participate in EHS management system and/or compliance audits, as assigned

  • Be an engaged visible EHS leader on the production floor in the facility

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or EHS sciences required.

  • 1+ years’ experience in environmental health and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASP or GSP certified

  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal EH&S regulations

  • Ability to make suggestions and informed decisions quickly

  • Possess strong organizational, leadership and time management skills

  • Highly motivated and possesses superior follow-up and follow-through skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Able to use software applications including Microsoft Office products and other internal programs.

  • Basic understanding of ISO 14001 and 45001

  • Experience with creating procedures, instructions, and reports

  • Previous experience with working in a global working environment is an advantage
