Nestle Sr. Manager - Baking Division Strategy in Arlington, Virginia


This position monitors and drives the focused execution of division strategic projects and operational plan to ensure strategic, financial, and operational objectives are achieved. The position also supports the Baking Division President with other key strategic endeavors, such as M&A activities.


Strategic Insight & Planning

  • Monitor the marketplace to identify and assess key consumer and industry trends that can inform Baking strategy and operational plans. Assess strategic opportunities and ambitious threats.

  • Support the division in the formulation and tracking of the operational plans (MBS, ICP, portfolio strategy), including the cascading of objectives through the division. Provide ongoing support in driving the division’s strategic agenda and aligning with key decision makers.

  • Partner with Division Controller to perform strategic analyses on new business opportunities, including support of pre and post M&A activities.

  • Strong understanding of how to drive the base business of shareholder value creation and influence the division portfolio strategy and business model design.

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead the overall delivery, partnering with the Baking Division Controller and President, of division-wide strategic projects in the areas of: commercial/growth acceleration, new business platforms and margin & return on investment optimization.

  • Coordination and Execution of Mega Day and MFR process.

  • Coordinate with internal departments in identifying and implementing business development projects. May work with sales, marketing, insights, manufacturing and finance to resolve their needs. Develops and disseminates information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.

  • Establish effective organizational processes (Score Cards / Key Performance Indicators) to track the execution and results of the division.

  • Monitor project timelines, achievements, and resource usage and program-level risks and mitigation.

Change Management and People Coordination

  • Mobilize, collaborate and inspire the team.

  • Liaise with the Division Leadership Team to expedite decision-making for C-suite strategic business decisions.

  • Act as a Change Agent and partner with Leadership Team in improving division culture and driving the Ways of Winning.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: works under the supervision of the Division President

SUPERVISION GIVEN: Coordinates cross functional/divisional teams on a project basis

FINANCIAL/STRATEGIC IMPACT: the position has impact on the division P&L, along with division Allocation, Share, Organic Growth (OG) and COP numbers.


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. An MBA degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of related work experience in any of these relevant functions: marketing, corporate finance, portfolio management, strategic planning, business development.

  • Knowledge of overall end-to-end value chain and shareholder value creation with experience in the following areas:

  • Business Strategy, Business Development, Commercial Acceleration, Margin Optimization, Program Management and Change Management.

  • Marketplace knowledge to include consumer, customer, competition, and business models is required.

  • Previous experience in strategic planning, project management, team/resource management, process design and implementation, and business integration is required. Highly developed expertise in strategy development, including project formulation, hypotheses development, financial and business modeling, strategic options identification, consensus building and implementation.

  • Strong analytical, P&L, project management and change management skills need to help develop strategic solutions for the division.

  • Experience within CPG (or adjacent industries) is considered a critical advantage.


  • Self-starter and driven leader with excellent communication & organizational skills, while possessing the ability to influence and constructively challenge cross-functional leaders to achieve project goals.

  • Strong commercial and P/L awareness.

  • Understanding of the key business process principles (MBS / ICP / MBP) and the value of good planning and execution.

  • Strong influencer and ability to work without direct authority and in ambiguous environments, ability to engage in and run healthy conflict.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced Project Management skills and experience are required.

  • Demonstrated business insight and above-average interpersonal/influencing skills.

  • Strong strategic, conceptual, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Ability to problem solve, effectively prioritize and drive processes.
