Job Description

Role Description:

The Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Senior Manager, Investigations & Disclosures and Audit is a key member of the FLIR team responsible for investigating global trade matters and partnering with business units and Global Trade SME’s to effectively determine root causes and identify corrective actions. The Sr. Manager will interpret global trade regulations (e.g. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR)) as they apply to the Company and lead investigations and draft disclosures related to potential violations of regulation. The Sr. Manager will also develop, in partnership with corporate Global Trade team subject matter experts and business units, root cause and corrective action plans that remedy potential violations and strengthen the Company’s overall compliance program. This position will report to the Senior Director and Counsel for Investigations & Audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead internal investigations related to potential regulatory violations.

  • Interpret regulations and their applicability to FLIR business operations.

  • Provide counsel to FLIR on regulatory requirements for global trade compliance.

  • Conduct all aspects of an investigation, including creating an investigation plan, interviewing employees, reviewing documents, and drafting government disclosures or closure memos.

  • Supervise the investigative work of other members of GTC and outside counsel.

  • Work with corporate Global Trade staff and business units to develop effective root cause and corrective action plans, and assist I&A team to manage, validate and close corrective actions.

  • Respond to government inquiries on ITAR and other trade related matters.

  • Plan and manage audit activities including developing protocols and drafting audit findings.

  • Develop case studies, trainings, and communications related to GTC compliance issues.

  • Assist the GTC VP and Senior Director of I&A on special projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Strong investigative skills with prior experience in investigating in business operations.

  • Proven ability to interpret government regulations with focus on the ITAR requirements.

  • Keen judgment, discretion and ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Excellent writing skills; must be able to assimilate and analyze complex information and draft clear and concise narratives.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective oral communication skills; proven ability to conduct interviews.

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently but remain a team player.

  • Proficiency in using spreadsheets, PowerPoint and databases.


8 to 10 years of professional global trade related investigative experience in defense trade, prior consent agreement experience or law degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 additional years of experience working for a law firm, government agency or private company on ITAR and other export control related matters. Prior audit experience desired.
