Epic Cogito Reporting Project Manager – Business Systems Analyst III

Texas Health Resources is currently seeking an Epic Cogito Revenue Cycle Reporting Project Manager to join our Reporting and Analytics team. The Cogito Project Manager (CPM) is responsible for the overall success of analytics and for coordinating analytics tasks across all applications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (4 Years Relevant experience in lieu of a degree) Required


  • 6 years of experience in planning and implementing new information systems and/ or planning and integrating new technologies into existing systems. and/or Experience with current systems analysis principles, methods, procedures, practices, tools and techniques and project management principles required.

  • Specific application expertise may be a requirement dependent on the department the position supports required.

  • EMR / Epic Reporting experience a plus

  • Database or SQL expereince a plus

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Cogito Project Manager certification and/or experience in Epic Clarity Data Models related to Hospital Billing, HIM, Grand central, Cadence along with Reporting Workbench and Radar is a plus.

Position Responsibilities : Works with business leaders and acts as a liaison between technical staff (IT/CHIO) and applicable business units in documenting and defining the scope and objectives of technology solutions. Responsible for the collection of complex business needs and requirements. Plays a critical role in facilitating and streamlining the governance process. Responsible for the highest complexity and/or largest scope programs, projects, and/or RFPs. May lead and/or serve as mentor to less experienced staff.

  • Epic Cogito Project Manager will lead the Epic Revenue Cycle Reporting and Analytics. The role involves working with Epic reporting/Cogito suite (Radar, Reporting Workbench, Slicerdicer, Clarity, Caboodle ) along with Tableau and other reporting tools. Primary areas include Hospital Billing, Admission, Discharge, Transfer, Registration, Scheduling and Health Information Management modules.

  • Collaborates with executive sponsors and/or business owners to properly define, scope, prioritize, and documents technological requirements to resolve business-related problems in compliance with the strategic objectives of the system.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify the risks, inter-dependencies and timelines for desired functionality and features.

  • Develops resource and cost/benefit estimates to establish project worth and feasibility.

  • Recommends acquisition of new software applications and/or redesigning/redeploying existing system resources to address operational concerns as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with governance, quality, and best practices to optimize performance and scalability.

  • Proactively communicates with key stakeholders to ensure timelines are met, issues are escalated and resolved, business requirements are satisfied.

  • Enables effective governance of major initiates/investments through rigorous Return on Investment (ROI) evaluation, actual expenditure tracking, ongoing emphasis on and reporting of target benefits, and establishment of a process for accurate value realization measurement.

  • Along with the key stakeholders, maintains awareness of the portfolio of current and upcoming projects as they relate to potential demand creation and prioritization. Includes early awareness of potential change control matters.

  • Take responsibility for effectively utilizing demand and resource management tools; aligned with best-in-class functionality and emerging technology.

  • Participates in and supports governance, project management, and service management processes and procedures.

  • Ensures accurate and timely information is updated on applicable knowledge bases and communication channels.

  • May lead and/or serve as mentor to less experienced staff.

  • Performs other duties and/or participates in special project as assigned.


  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization; including business unit functional leaders and technical experts. Expert understanding of information systems, business processes.

  • Analytical and project management skills required, including an advanced understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for resources.
