The Team – STITCH

STITCH ( ) is a Software as a Service (SaaS) startup on the journey to launching a commercial product. We’re on a mission to provide a 3D workflow that inspires fashion brands to spend more time on product while removing waste. We do this through our HUB digital asset library, STITCH Academy education platform, & Transformation services.

Pushing this vision is a close-knit, multicultural mix of people with experiences ranging from pure fashion business to infrastructure coding. Our product is constantly evolving. Nonetheless, here is a run-down of our latest tech setup:

  • Backend and asynchronous pipelines: Python and Django with Celery

  • Frontend: Vue, Konva, Jest

  • Infrastructure: AWS built with Terraform, deployed in containers on ECS and EC2s, frontends hosted with Cloudfront, all managed with CI/CD pipelines built with CircleCI

  • Process: Project-based work in a cross-functional team, led by product management

The Role & Key Responsibilities:

  • Translates the company’s commercial & product ambitions into the technology strategy and roadmap. Keeping a sharp eye on any technical risks that can affect the company’s goals.

  • Evangelises the possibilities of technology to unlock surprising solutions for our customers’ and users’ needs. Collaborate as one team with the Head of Product.

  • Challenges our talented engineering team to develop high-performing, reliable, secure and - most importantly - scalable solutions.

  • Always keeps an eye out for opportunities externally that could help achieve STITCH’s goals. Whether it’s experimenting with new technologies, levering your network in search of potential partnerships or uncovering new technology talent.

  • Sets the engineering principles; championing engineering best practices and driving the STITCH engineering culture. The aim is to ensure a good balance between code quality, the team’s productivity and long term stability/scalability of the product.

  • Defines the long-term tech talent strategy for STITCH. Team organization, recruitment and talent management are the important aspects of the role. You will be responsible for evolving the team’s organizational structure, driving high performance, collaboration and stimulating our engineers’ professional growth.

  • Is a member of the STITCH leadership team and will proactively contribute to the short- and long-term plans & vision for STITCH.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You are a technologist at heart. You’re passionate about the space and can leverage this passion to motivate your team.

  • You have experience with both product development as well as system design.

  • You’re able to balance strategy with a hands-on approach, always willing to step up (hands on keyboard) when times require.

  • Strategic thinking and strong communication skills are essential for this role. You are able to translate the company strategy into a compelling story for the engineering team to rally them around STITCH’s mission. You’re also able to represent the voice of engineering with internal and external stakeholders.

  • You have a solid understanding of all disciplines of software development, which you use to constructively challenge the team to get better.

  • You understand how engineering impacts the bottom line of the company and are able to leverage financial metrics to drive improvement initiatives.

  • You have at least 2 years experience leading and scaling an engineering team. We are looking for a real team builder, someone who is highly collaborative, who gives constructive feedback and is always looking for ways to help the engineering team grow and learn.

  • Being a start-up, it’s critical that you are able to think on your feet, think in solutions (current and future) and are pragmatic by nature.

  • You’re excited by the challenge of taking on a successful product and maturing it into a commercial SAAS solution.
