What you’ll be doing...
We seek a highly motivated candidate with a background in Data Governance to join the Data Governance & Architecture team within AI&D. In this exciting position, you will play an integral role in driving Verizon Forward with cataloging and governing our vast data sets.
You will work with internal teams to document and design governance processes, establish, manage, and promote data governance standards as well as advocate for effective governance and controls. You will also work directly with business and technical data stewards, data owners, and subject matter experts to catalog data artifacts, business artifacts, and governance artifacts with the end goal to enable governance over their data.
We are looking for candidates who understand the value of effective governance processes and can drive cross-functional collaboration to define, document and launch effective processes and controls.
In this position, you will be granted the opportunity to learn new technologies for data catalog governance working with the IBM Cloud Pak and Google Cloud service.
The primary accountabilities of this position include:
Capturing and synthesizing business requirements to manage data, the conceptual design of future state concept of operations, the configuration and expert level assistance and training of relevant tools.
Documenting, assessing, influencing, and synthesizing business requirements to develop, enable, and advance data governance and stewardship capabilities.
Assisting in the establishment of Communities of Practice, to promote a culture where data is managed as an asset of the company.
Developing candidate Key Performance Indicators and dashboards to measure the success and ROI of the data governance program with a concentration on the data glossary and catalog.
Maintaining and promoting key data governance deliverables/assets, including data policies, data standards, and data management roles and decision frameworks.
Performing as a member of the Enterprise Data Governance Office team, with a concentration on the advancement of the data governance capabilities
Facilitating and promoting usage and adoption of the data governance standards and tools.
Designing, deploying, and executing workflows to automate data quality procedures and escalate identified exceptions and defects to Business Data Stewards for remediation.
Supporting design of future state concept of operations through the analysis of business process models and data flow diagrams.
Engaging with leaders and subject matter experts within the business to document their data assets and support solutions for their governance needs.
Executing controls and managing processes for Data Catalog oversight and management.
This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
An MBA or a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
Knowledge of Data Management standards (e.g. DCAM,DAMA).
Knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma.
Experience using and supporting Data Quality Management tools, Data Catalog, and Master Data Management tools.
Knowledge of business process modelling standards (BPMN).
Experience in project management or business analyst function.
Experience with Governance Catalogs (ICP4D WKC, Collibra, Axon, Alation or equivalent).
Expertise in business process reengineering.
Presentation skills, including the ability to create presentations using Google Sheets/MS PowerPoint and experience presenting to all levels of an organization.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across the organization and drive results.
